Hmm...I looked around quickly on LongIsland.com and came up with these maybe you can call some of them and see if they are geared toward children with special needs?

I know of a good one. But they are in Little Neck, Queens. They do have bus service, so if you aren't too far out they may be able to accomodate you.

Sorry, I should have mentioned I live in Suffolk County. Western Nassau is just way too far for me to get my daughter to on a daily basis. Does anyone know of any in Suffolk County?

I would ask her school teacher. How severe are her social issues? I do know quite a few but my recommendations would depend on the severity of her issues.

Kidz Therapy Services in Garden City and Happague has one. They are a good agency, but I think this camp is new. I also don't know if it is a mix of kids or mostly asperger syndrome. I'll see if I still have the flyer in my email.

Re: Summer Camp for Kids with Social Issues

What town do you live in?

I looked into some of those camps at the special education preschools and they are very expensive.

My son has ADHD and a few other issues, but he attends a regular camp. Sometimes he needs a little extra help for certain things, but the counselors have never seemed to mind.

We're in western suffolk (Lindenhurst area). The problem is my daughter is 10 and a lot of camps don't handle kids that old.

And most regular camps don't have the patience for kids that have behavioral issues.

Re: Summer Camp for Kids with Social Issues

I'm not sure if they have a summer camp but my son goes to a place called Kid Esteem. Last year in school they suggested that he may have Asperger's so I brought him to Kid Esteem. We have no diagnoses but I thought that it coudn't hurt since he really didn't get to play with too many children. He loves going. I didn't bring him for the last session because I had my daughter but he brought it up the other day that he wants to go back. It is run by a husband and wife and they are great with them. They play games and teach them how to be social. They even video tape them to show them what they are doing. I think it is in West Babylon!! If you have any questions FM me and I'll see if I can help.

Good Luck

I should have mentioned that they deal with alot of different disabilites. Aspergers, ADHD and many more. I'm not really too familiar with all of them so I won't mention them but check it out
