Directv VS Optimum/cablevision
Looking for reviews of these two companies from real people… which would you go with? Need internet, cable, and a sports package. Unfortunately Fios is not yet an option in our area :(

We bought a house last year and priced the two. Cablevision offered the best package/new customer price. Direct TV could not match it. That said, they are cheaper after the promo runs out so we will be switching in February. The only PITA is the fact that Direct tv is just that tv. You still have to get your internet from cablevision and phone from somewhere else so you are potentially adding three seperate bills/companies.

Cablevision offers phone. So you could get an Internet/Phone package from them.

LOVE Direct TV. They are just awesome, they offer some really good package deals and we've been happy with them every time we have had them.
We just switched back to Direct TV a few months ago. We still get our internet from Cablevision and we get our phone from Vonage but even after adding it all up, it's coming out cheaper per month than the Triple Play from Cablevision. When we first switched to them we had a great deal but over time the prices kept going up and this past time they refused to work with us on the price so we dropped them and went back to Direct TV.
You won't be disappointed if you make the switch to Direct TV!

If you're looking at DirectTV, check out DishNetwork as well. Competing dish TV company. Just like DirectTV, though, they only offer TV signal. We have FiOS Internet and phones, and DishNetwork for the TV.
