should i be upset or should i suck it up
ok. you guys are ALWAYS brutally honest... this is why i come back with my questions.
should i be upset or should i let it go??
DS has been at basic training for 2.5 weeks, now. before he went to basic training, i had a conversation with a few members of my family: my sister and three cousins (all like aunts to DS).
we all agreed that we would all share the letter writing "responsibility" so that DS can have a decent, steady flow of mail... and not ever letter come from MOMMY.
so, we created a schedule. everyone gets one day per week. since all these women have kids, i said that the weekly letter can come from any member in the family. again, for variety.
we're only two weeks into this thing, and i found out today that they aren't writing letters.
i understand they have lives, but we agreed that if i was asking for too much or if there was a week they couldn't do it, they'd let me know... so i can write extra.
should i be upset or should i let it go and move on?

Brutal honesty:
I'd think my sister was nuts if she created a schedule for us to send a letter to her kid.
I'd want the letters to be sent because they want to be sent, not because they are 'on a schedule and must be done'.

I might be sad by it but I also think it's unrealistic to stick to that and keep up with it. I know in theory it's a great idea and would love to do that, but I'm so busy with two kids under two that I just know I couldn't. I would think it's a lot if someone asked that of me.

This. and as a CF person, I would get angry actually.

I think it is a lot. Sorry. One letter a month would be what I would hope they would write.

I think its a lot to expect of people.
My advice is to do things to recognize him but not necessarily every week.
When a co-worker son went to Bootcamp, she asked if everyone on the team minded signing a card to encourage him.
Maybe you can do something like this instead of family too.
