need serious help for STTN and a 15 month old

I really am at my wits ends....need some sleeping through the night help for my 15 month old.
this is long.....i apologize in advance....

I never EVER dealt with this with my DD. She STTN at 3 months old and the only time she woke up would be if she was sick...NEVER dealt with CIO, ferber, sleeping in our bed, giving a bottle in the middle of the night... or any of this.

for about 2 weeks my son has been waking up about 2 hours or so (sometimes more, sometimes less) after he goes to sleep.

He was sick at first with croup and that is what started it. BUT now hes all better and still waking.

He wakes up SCREAMING. And wont go back in. I am not sure what to do. Every single night he wakes up crying so bad...we tried to let him CIO but he gets WAY TOO UPSET. I start with 3 minutes, 5 minutes, tried up to 10 but the way he screams cant be normal or good for him. Ive tried tylenol bc he IS cutting his 4 eye teeth and I know those are horrinle for them so I did attribute it to that...however he is FINE during the day, so then I am not sure. I try and nap him earlier in the day now, make sure he is fully FED AND FULL, (bc he is a bear when he is hungry lol).
I made the room cooler, then warmer, put him in later, then earlier (bc I said maybe overtired) then went back to normal time. We gave him a bottle during the middle of the night wen he is screaming (which is regressing i know...but I was getting desparate).

He only sleeps an HOUR tops during the day.

What do I do? I am thinking of calling my pediatrician this week.. this is worse than when he was a newborn.
ITS BAD.....he wakes around 11pm and is up for hours! and i know he is tired bc he is rubbing his eyes, yawning etc. If he goes back in agter being up from 1-2 hours he will then wake again around 3am.
PLEASE HELP!

It seems like he is having trouble soothing himself back to sleep. I did CIO and in the beginning my ds cried for 40 mins plus. It was hard and I hated every minute of it but he is an amazing sleeper now.

He takes a paci but during these fits he refuses it. Did you let him cry for 40 min without going in the room. It's so hard

I did. My ds was younger when we first did it but we had to do it a few times over the years.

The fact that he's cutting 4 teeth could definitely be part of the problem. It also sounds like he might be tired. Sleeping for only an hour during the day and then being up at night could have made him over tired at this point.
I have no problem with CIO, I did it for DS and it worked great. I just don't know if I'd do it right now while he's cutting teeth. I would probably try to soothe him back to sleep (and give him Tylenol for the pain) and wait and do the CIO once the teeth have come through. I know my DS always had sleep issues when he was cutting teeth. They usually got much better on their own once the teeth were through. Also, I do think it's possible for them not to be aware of the pain during the day because they're so busy, but be in pain at night. My DS was this way as well. Good luck! I hope it gets better soon!

I do think its teeth. What concerns me is Motrin and Tylenol used to help his pain and it's not doing a thing. He's a horrible teether... Always was...he also cuts multiple teeth at the exact same time. So it multiplies the pain for him. It's so sad but I'm not sure what to do. I try soothing him (he only wants me not DH). I brought him in bed with me.... But then as soon as that happens he wants to play. He's doing tricks and laughing (it would be adorable if it wasnt 2am lol).

My DD is an excellent sleeper but when she's cutting teeth, her sleep is like you describe. We try to keep to the same routine and eventually she goes back to normal.

Eta: it wasn't this bad when she wore an amber necklace but my mom took it off of her to give her a bath and we haven't seen it since.

Both of my girls simply weren't ready until 21 months. I tried everything there was to try. 21 months for me something just clicked.

Wait until his teeth cut through. Then do the extinction method of CIO - meaning you don't go in to check. It sounds like you going it to check just makes him more upset. It may take a few nights but hang in there!

My DD is almost 15 months and lately has been really terrible at night too. I think it is a combo of teething and separation anxiety. I only pray it passes for us all bc nothing else is working LOL

Dd is 13 months and I've just given in to sleeping with her. I could never do cio. She spent 9 months inside me, and she's only 13 months old now. Why would I ever want her to cry when she wants comfort? We cuddle and she sleeps.

Same here. She is really fighting bedtime and wakes during the night and has been up at least an hour and sometimes 2 hours, and I know she is tired because her eyes keep closing, etc. We put her down and she screams. Now I put her back in her crib and say "mommy sleeping" and pretend I'm sleeping while I stand by the crib. She has falllen asleep in a few minutes because she is so tired and knows I'm right there. Then I sneak out. That hasn't worked all the time but at times it has. I hope this passes. I do think it's separation anxiety and a stage, combined with the teething.
