Anyone have 3 kids under 4yo?

we are not thinking about trying for baby #3 just yet, but we do go back and forth about whether to just bang it out sooner rather than later or wait a couple of years.

my kids are now 28 months and 10 months.

we definitely want 3 or 4 children. we like the idea of them being close in age, being in school together, enjoying the same things, etc.

but I also wonder is it better to enjoy just being a family of 4 until we add more craziness to the mix!

I grew up with 2 siblings, all of us very close in age so that is all I know. I also don't want to get too far out of the baby phase and then go back.

I know this is something we will decide, but I just wanted to hear some of your thoughts and/or experiences?

Re: Anyone have 3 kids under 4yo?

We have two that are 18 months apart and then waited to have a 3rd. #2 and #3 are 4.5 years apart. I was so worried that the littlest wouldn't be close to her sisters, but I couldn't have been more wrong! They all love each other so much and the big girls take care of the little one all the time! They are so close! We are planning to try for a 4th next year and I have absolutely no concerns about #1 and #4 being at least 10 years apart.

We knew we wanted more children, but we had to make sure that our jobs were secure (I'm a teacher) and we knew we wanted to be in a bigger house.

was it hard to go back to the newborn/infant phase after being out of it for so long?

Come this January I will have 3 girls that will be 3 and under. My oldest is 2 (32 months) and my younger DD is 13 months. They will all be 19 months apart. I had the same thoughts as you. I wanted more than 2. I am one of 3 and my DH is one of 6. I didn't want to get out of the baby phase and do think it's nice that they will be so close in age. Although since they are all girls, I imagine a lot of fighting as teens... I also wanted to be done by the time I was 35. Luckily, it worked out that way for us. I would consider a 4th but my DH wouldn't, mostly because of finances. Which I agree for the most part. I want to be able to give the 3 I have as much as possible.

wow that sounds so nice! my first 2 are 18 months apart and although it can be tough i also really love it.

do people people look at you like you are crazy for having 3 so close together? my close relative thought i was nuts for suggesting that we may want #3 soon.

I did have those thoughts when I told everyone we were expecting again. i don't think anyone would ever say they thought we were crazy, even if they thought it lol. The only person who said anything was my Dad because he has no filter lol . He was happy for us but he made it clear he thought it was going to be very hard. It is tough. Even just being pregnant and having the 2 little ones. There is no break. When I was pregnant with my 2nd, I used to be able to nap with my oldest. Now the oldest doesn't nap etc. so it's been a very hard pregnancy so far. Personally, I just can't imagine doing the baby phase over in 5 years. Maybe if I were 25 but me and my DH are really looking forward to eventually sleeping again and just enjoying the family we have. I'll let you know in a few months how its going. Chat Icon

My twins were 20 months when my DS was born. When he was an infant it was a breeze. It's when he got mobile and started walking/running that go tough for us. Now the twins are 4.5 and DS will be 3 on Sunday. It's still super hard. The noise level, the fighting, the running and ganging up on me when we are out. It's very hard to take them out alone. However, I would not change it. I love that all three are so close. I would have a four if I could but I had rough pregnancies so I tied my tubes and DH is against having another, lol.

Surprisingly, no! Its not like the first time, because you sort of already know what to expect!

My sister has 3 kids and they are all 14 months apart. Her oldest just turned 5, the middle is going to be 4 later this month and the youngest 3 in October. Everyone probably thought she was nuts when she had them back to back like that but she also wanted to be done by a certain age...and I think it was hard at first but now that they are all a little older it is easier.. she does rely on my parents a lot though to help babysit when she wants to run errands like grocery shopping, etc.

I think running errands with three very little ones is the toughest thing. all of my family is local and are always willing to help but I don't want to have to rely on them all the time.

Come October, I will have 4 boys, 4 and under! Chat Icon

I'm a SAHM to a 4yo and 2yo twins. Some days are in-freakin-sane but I honestly wouldn't have it any other way. Baby #4 wasn't exactly planned and it was a huge shock when we found out (needed IF treatments to conceive my other boys), but we are so happy! The first couple of years will definitely have its challenges, but I love the idea of them being so close in age. I'm glad that I'm kinda still in baby mode since my twins are atill in diapers. I would find it more difficult to go back to having a newborn once my children are grown. You know what's best for your family... go with your gut! Chat Icon

I am a working mom with a demanding career. I was a three under three mom. People definitely stare and ask questions! Three is a whole other ballgame! 2 kids is fine, but that 3rd makes things insane! People warned us but we didn't care, we are very blessed!!! Childcare costs more than my mortgage! Let me know if you have questions.

My twins were 26 months when my 3rd was born. It was easy in the beginning but now it can be tough. They all want something all at once and they can fight....but on the other hand it is so nice they are so close in age. They do play nice together, they have similar interests etc. DH and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel....one kid still in diapers, slowly giving away baby toys, they play more independently.
Daycare expenses are INSANE

They are now 4 and 2 and I will take them anywhere alone....grocery shopping, DR appts, park, beach. I have always been "strict" when we are out in public and most times Id rather be out and about with all of them then homeChat Icon

Re: Anyone have 3 kids under 4yo?

My best friend just had her 3rd...her oldest just turned 3 end of June, then middle is 17 months, and now new baby, week old. Just missed 3 under 3! She did want 3 or 4 kids but was planning on waiting longer for #3. She swears she's done now.

My daughter is 14 months and I would love to get pregnant like, yesterday, but hubby doesn't agree. I know I only want 2 children and I really wanted them close in age.
