Asking for lunch money

I work in a small office and am close with my coworkers - the last couple of weeks I have been the one to pick up lunch or pay the delivery guy and one of my work friends has not paid be back on a few different occasions (in two weeks) - I am pretty sure it just slipped her mind but at this point I feel like I shelled out at least 30 bucks for her lunches and I don't even know if she realizes it ....

I know its trivial in the grand scheme of things but , any helpful suggestions on how I can casually remind her that she hasn't paid me back?

Re: Asking for lunch money

Can you collect the $$ before the delivery guy gets there?

ETS-well, my answer is for in the future...sorry

I would prob go up to her and jokingly say - hey, you owe me $$ for lunch for this day or that day.

Or maybe you'd be more comfortable writing an email to her? I think that's the way I would go.

Re: Asking for lunch money

I had a similar situation. We all chip in for Poland Spring water in a cooler, but I pay the bill w/my CC. I ended up making a chart and had ppl check off when they paid me, b/c I felt like an a$$ asking them for money.

I usually order with the same people. If none of us have cash, one of us will put it on their card and the next day, the other person will.

It's not trivial - no reason you should pay for her lunch. I would say next time she wants to order I would ask for the cash ahead or tell her to put it on her card and I would say something half joking about her not giving the cash the last few times.

Just ask! I don't see the big deal - if I owed someone money and forgot about it, I would be happy to be reminded.

I would ask her for it. I don't see a reason to sugarcoat it or anything like that. It probably slipped her mind and she needs to be reminded. No biggie.

Agreed.. Just ask her for it.. I do 95% of the ordering at lunch in my office and I will send out an email to everyone who ordered listing who owes what.

This is what I would do. Also don't worry too much, not that it happened often but if I owe someone money and I forget I appreciate being asked.

Asking for lunch money

I would have no problem asking and I would not order lunch for them again until I was paid back.

Re: Asking for lunch money

Just keep getting her order wrong until she pays up, the deadbeat.

Send an email or when you see her just remind her she owes you $30. I hate when people don't pay.

Re: Asking for lunch money

We order a lot.

We make a list of what everyone wants and collect right there or there is no order.

I'd either ask her to pick up your next two lunches or say with a half joking tone (just to keep it light) "Hey, you know you own me $30 right?" and hope she apologizes profusely and hands it right to me.
