Re: Traveling without your Little One...

I would have no objections with either set of grandparents watching DS at that age for an extended period of time. My son loooooooves his grandparents and I am 100% confident that he would have never felt abandoned. That is a ridiculous thing to say! Now I am a bit of a nut who misses my DS too much when we are apart so I personally couldn't be away from him for more than 2-3 nights but I honestly don't think there is anything wrong with going on a 5 night trip at ALL.

I would only let someone my DS is comfortable with watch him. Luckily both sets of grandparents see him all the time. Im actually going on a 5 day trip and leaving DS (2 yrs old) at home --- he will be with my mom half the time, and MIL the other half. I feel guilty leaving him, but also know that unless I take a little me/DH time i will burn out. This will be our first trip alone in a few years.

My MiL told us that it's selfish for us to go away and that the baby will think I'm abandoning her when she wakes up three days into my trip and realizes mommy still isn't there. I'm so upset. I didn't feel like it was wrong until she said that.

That is ridiculous! We left my son for a week when he was 8 months old with my parents so we could go on a trip. He had no clue we were gone that long. Babies have no sense of time when they are that young. Go and have a great time.

We left my DS home with my parents for 4 nights when he was right around 1. He had no idea how long it was and we came back re-charged and re-energized. My parents stayed at our place, so he was able to keep up with the same routine. I say do it!

my kids are 5 and 3 and we have not left them for more than one night yet. I don't think I could do it that young and that long. But that is my personal feeling.

Traveling without your Little One...

We're leaving dd for 2 nights when she is 13 months with my sister. I was really hoping to have her weaned by then, but it looks like I may need to bring the pump with me for morning and night bc dd won't wean or drink milk

Haven't left her for more than 2 nights (back to back weddings) but wouldn't have a problem doing so. The opportunity just hasn't presented itself.
