Yeah, I would be annoyed especially since carrying my kids around is an exhausting pain but I would be annoyed with myself more than the office.
Where I work, they either make the late patient wait until they can be squeezed in or if they are really late, they will turn them away. 20 min is 2 appointment time slots for us & we are always jam packed with little to no leeway.

I'd find another practice. I've waited longer than that for every doctor we use for anything. I never complain because I know they will give me as much time as they gave to the people ahead of me. Then when I need the time I expect them to give me the same courtesy. Also, sometimes when you tell the doctor, they didn't know that the staff treated you that way.

Yes my ped would do the same. 20 mins is actually pretty late IMO. I could see maybe if your car broke down or something but if I was going to a new office I would leave a lot of extra time. 5 mins or so is one thing, but ped visits are typically pretty close together and if everyone shows up even 5 mins behind then the wait gets to be ridiculous. I don't think you can get upset with the office. I would be upset if you were say 5 mins, but I know our office asks to arrive early so you can fill out and pay the co pay.

Etd to add. I think well visits block a longer time than a sick visit. So a sick visit is easier to squeeze in than a well visit. My office for example will only do a certain amount a day, but can easily squeeze in a sick visit.

I don't think the office was wrong. 20 mins is pretty late. Why should all the other patients be inconvenienced because of your lateness?

A little late is 5 minutes. 20 minutes is really late and actual whole appointment time. I would not be mad, the office did what they had to do.
