DS was in EI and then at 3 was in the self contained classes in the local preschool. One of the questions I remember filling out was the same thing. DS1 wound up being a crash c bc he lost oxygen when I went into labor and had to get him out ASAP.
Because of that I do see why they ask that question for school. It's personal for me though. I have no problem answering it and understand why they do. He's in general Ed now with an IEP. I don't know 100 percent if the way he was born was the cause of his delays but I do know that one other mom who had a similar birth also had a child with sensory issues. DS has outgrown a lot.

I kind of see it the same way. Dd2 has her ei evaluation today and I know they'll ask all about her birth history. It's completely relevant and I would never consider not answering. My first needed ei too and was a vaginal, my second was a cs. Her birth history absolutely could lead to delays unfortunately, not bc she was a cs though. I am beyond thankful she we a cs because had they tried to induce her issues would have only been worse bc she needed to be out asap. If her birth history is relevant now, I think it will be when she's 5 too. I don't think the cs or vaginal part is very helpful but it's just part of their medical history so I get why it's asked. I don't understand the mindset that they would be blaming you for any issues the child may have.

I think it is just there and in most cases (especially with regular school/preschool) isn't used for anything. It's on my preschoolers intake form as well. They also ask about NICU time etc. It has to do with some correlated developmental delays/special needs etc that may be increased risk to babies born under certain duress or with interventions.
Again I don't think it matters in most cases related to regular school but may be important when evaluating a child with special learning needs or medical concerns as an important part of their history (i.e. physical or occupational therapy, chiropractors, psychiatry etc). Has never bothered me to answer but if you aren't comfortable with it I would just leave it blank.

That question was on our kindergarten paper work, it's not a big deal. I answered c sec for both and never gave it a second thought. Probably want to be sure there are no health issues.

But do C Sections lead to health issues?
I can't see how.

And if you're child is adopted or not biologically yours? I don't even understand why they need to know that.

Outrageous question a mom refused to answer on Kindergarten application

I see everyone's point however as someone that completes psychological testing we do ask for this from family history because at times there may be relevance to disability. Not saying in this woman's case that this is why it is asked for and if they want to know just because I wouldn't give that info but I do have to be in that position to ask at times.

They might be just looking for complications? they also ask if baby was born full term. I personally don't think c sec cause health issues. Could be an old question,,years ago if you had a c section was because there was a problem. Now the c sec rate is so high, the question probably does not mean much now.

I don't find it that outrageous. It was actually a question on the kindergarten registration for my district as well.

No big deal to me if they want to know.

This. I have filled this out for school also. I thought it was a bit odd but filled it out.

C sections could have been done b/c of health issues, complications, could result in breathing issues if fluids are inhaled during the csection. Or the csection could have been done to avoid health issues.

I don't even tell anyone outside my immediate immediate family that they were IVF. I wouldn't want some silly nothing of an issue to come up, only to have someone to go digging into the file and say "aha!" It's just irrelevant to me...

I don't think they asked about IVF< just csection? IVF would be crossing the line if they asked that.

Outrageous question a mom refused to answer on Kindergarten application

I answered this question on my child's registration form without even blinking an eye. This is probably how they collect some data about health and demographics (I'm guessing).

I was asked this during my DS early intervention evaluation. I'm not sure why it's relevant data to them. That being said my son is special needs and I had him naturally so I'm not sure that it matters.

Re: Outrageous question a mom refused to answer on Kindergarten application

I answered this question on daycare forms. I don't get how it's relevant but it's not a secret how my children were born so I didn't think twice about answering.

To make a big deal about this seems completely unnecessary.
