Infant mommies and night feedings....

How much do you feed your baby at the night feedings? More, less, the same as a regular feeding? If they wake up more than once would you say one feeding is usually bigger than the other?

Ds is 6 weeks and he wake up at like 3, and 530. At 3 he takes a full bottle but then he's up at like 530 again but he'll only take like 2-3 oz. do you think I should give him more at 3?

I feel like after the first feeding he never fully goes back to sleep. It's all broken up after that

I would keep doing what you're doing if your baby is happy!

I would try to give him more at 3 and see if he takes it. It cant hurt to try and then maybe it will help him last a little longer.

I nursed predominantly, so I really can't say, but when he got a bottle, if he finished what we gave him consistently, we would increase the amount. So, if at the nighttime feeding, he got 4 oz say or 6 oz, and he finished that off for 2-3 nights in a row, we would increase by 2 oz.

Re: Infant mommies and night feedings....

I have a 6 week old DD and she has been sleeping either: straight through til 4am or 2 feedings: 1:30 and 5ish.

If she wakes up at the 1:30, I've found she takes her full feeding then, but only 1-2 oz at 5am. To me, I think this means she isn't really hungry but her body is waking her up. I think this will get worked out on it's own as she gets a bit older.

With my first, he always took a full feeding whenever he woke up.

All babies are different. You just kind of have to figure out what's going on with your baby. But, at 6 weeks, there isn't really much you can do. You sort of have to just go with the flow and hope the baby works it out as their brains mature and tummies grow.

Re: Infant mommies and night feedings....

I BF my daughter but she is on the same type of schedule. Sleeps from like 10(last feed)-2 or 3, eats for 45 minutes well, then wakes up again around 5-530 but eats for like only 20 minutes (definitely not as hungry) and drifts on and off all morning after that. We are only really getting max 3-4 hour stretch at night where she is sleeping well. After that first wake up she basically grunts or whimpers her way till her next feeding only 2 hours later.
