newborn vomiting?
ds is not even a week old. twice so far he has massively vomited. i think bc it was just too much, gave him a 3rd ounce bc i thought he wanted it. is that normal for just having too much? or is that a sign of something more?

newborn vomiting?
Could be from overeating but could be a bug. Keep an eye on it. Make sure he is hydrated and watch for a fever. The fever would automatically be serious at that age.

newborn vomiting?
3 ounces seems like a lot at that age when their bellies are so tiny. Maybe see if a pacifier will soothe him. Could be that he just wants to suck rather than actually being hungry.

Re: newborn vomiting?
At that age if I didn't burp DS enough he would vomit projectile and tons of it. It was so scary. The ped, though, reminded me that it always looks like so much more than it really is... And that it is common. You do have to watch for anything more serious so keep an eye out for fever and I would run all this by your ped anyway.
But, here I thought could this kid burp ANY MORE?? And sure enough, he would throw up if he needed a burp. So, I started doing one ounce, or even a little less and burp. And make sure I got a good burp before continuing. It was hard having to burp after every little drop but it worked... Otherwise he spit up so much.

Re: newborn vomiting?
For my one dd, she spit up a ton from the time she was in the hospital. For her, it was that she had a severe milk allergy and silent reflux.

Re: newborn vomiting?
DD did this a handful of times. Her ped said that as long as she's not doing it everyday during most feedings, it's ok. He said she may have had excessive air when she burped and caused the projectile spit up. Also could be a sign of reflux or allergy.

Re: newborn vomiting?
DD would do this here and there- I called it volcano vomitting. The whole bottle would spill out of her mouth. It was awful Turns out she had reflux. We switched formula, she ended up on meds and it got better
Also i had to make sure the nipple flow was slow- if she drank too much too fast it would be worse

We also changed to the Similac Orange -- Sensitive for Fussiness and Gas. That helped a lot with that. There were times he needed to burp after every single ounce!
