Camping!!

I used to go with friends back in the day even before DH with a group of friends. Well, now our kids are older (mine are going to be 6 and 4 this summer) and we were talking about going in August. We all get along and kids are good together.

DH thinks the boys would last a day. They love the outdoors, but not the messy outdoorsy kind. Lol. DH is a contractor and always working on the house. Boys help about 5 mins then onto playing on the swingset.
Friends want to go 3 nights 4 days.
Any suggestions or advise? We would go to a camp ground of course.
Will have to buy all the gear.
Figured it'll be an experience. Hopefully a fun one.
What to buy besides big tent and other necessities?

Camping!!

I was going to suggest Jellystone park in Quarryville PA.
We 2 years ago and LOVED it!! they have a giant jumping pillow, a beautiful splash ground, hayrides and a recreation area for crafts.

we stayed in a rustic cabin. we have camping gear but decided to do a cabin rental. The cabins range from bare bones to cabins with kitchens. we did a bare bones cabin but it still had a mini fridge and microwave.

if you rather camp in a tent, they have that option as well.
it was one of the best times ever!
we are considering going there again this year. they have others in various states as well.

if you really have your heart set on tent camping, you would need, tent, sleeping bags, an air mattress if you rather sleep a little more comfortable, bring some plastic table clothes, paper plates, utensils, grilling tools like brush, spatula and tongs, a small dish washing soap and sponge.
they sell small pots and pans etc in any store..
we don't have a set- haven't really needed it as we just grill burgers/corn/chicken.
for breakfast, we do yogurt.

oh and def get some camping chairs for sitting around the fire!!
small folding chairs for the kids are fine but get yourselves some camping chairs.
I don't recall the kind of tent we have , but it pretty much pops open. it is soooooooooo easy to put up!!! so maybe look into a tent that can assemble easily.

that is all I can think of off the top of my head

Camping!!

I have been taking DS camping (in a tent) since he was 15 months old. He loves it. We have little folding cot for him to sleep on and we have an eight person tent. Plenty big enough for the 3 of us and gear and 2 queen air mattresses and DS's cot.

We go to Montauk but truthfully any family campground with have facilities.

We have a grill and gas burner so we can cook just about anything. Bring out milk and cereal, eggs, burger, steaks, cold cuts. We have jsut about everything we have at home. I bring my Ipad for the evenings and we have a charger battery pak thing so its never an issue or we could charge int he car.

Another vote for Jellystone Quarryville! and Dutch Wonderland is about a half hour from it.

Lake Compounce also has a campground (short ferry ride over to CT).

A few people have recommended Strawberry Park in CT to us. It looks like they have a lot of fun things going on within the campgrounds.
