DS got stitches

We were at a friends house for a BBQ and DH was showing DS how to swing the golf club. We'll DS leaned in while DH was swinging and got hit right in the forehead. If was bad. Blood everywhere. We rushed him to the hospital and called a plastic surgeon. 4 inside stitches, 8 external stitches. He also has a small skull fracture. Chat Icon He's going to be fine, but poor DH is really beating himself up. I dong know if he'll ever forgive himself. I just want to cry for them both Chat Icon

Re: DS got stitches

I hope your son feels better and glad he is ok! That happened to my cousin when he was little and was a quarter of an inches from losing his eye. When he came in the house, blood was everywhere. Time will heal for your DH and DS.

I always have to tell my DS to step back when they are swinging bats in Tball. Sometimes he has no concept of space.

DS got stitches

Oh no!! Hope both your ds and your dh are ok. I'm sure you're dh is blaming himself but it was an accident. So scary.

When my aunt was teaching my cousin how to gold at the driving range she was behind him when he swung and she got wacked. Broke her eye socket. Scary stuff

DS got stitches

I feel your pain, sat ds hit his head on my night stand n cut his for head open down to the muscle n needed 10 stitches, he's only 15m! I feel so guilty cuz I was holding him as he was reaching for something and he lost his grip and fell but everyone is telling me not to blame myself cuz boys will be boys and it will happen one way or another. Not exactly what I wanna hear but whatever lol

Re: DS got stitches

Aw, poor little guy. I know how your DH feels. My son has had stitches in his head twice already and he's not even 4 yet! Accidents happen. We just do the best we can!

Re: DS got stitches

Oh no! Hope he feels better soon. That sounds painful.

DD2 had to get stitches last summer at 2 years old. She fell while running down the street and banged her forehead on the cement. Internal, external...the plastic suegeon said he lost count at 12 stitches. Chat Icon

Be sure to get a good silicone based cream for it to prevent scaring. Our plastic surgeon prescribed one (sorry can't recall the name.) We used it diligently for months and you can barely see the scar now. Also LOTS of sunscreen/hats this summer. We basically just kept bandaids on the scar for a month or two when she went outside.

Poor guy, poor DH and poor you!
My DS had stitches last year between his eyes and then fell not too long after that and needed stitches inside and outside his lip.. It's so upsetting, I know the feeling well.

Vitamin e oil and mederma will help prevent scarring. Hugs to you!

Re: DS got stitches

Such a hard thing for mom and dad to cope with! DS got 16 stitches in his forehead in September - and my stomach still rolls every time I focus on the scar!

My step-mother encouraged me to buy this - and this stuff is magic! Scarguard

As soon as it's closed up and the scab is gone, apply it twice a day for as long as you can (I still do it once daily 7 months after the stitches).

Good luck!
