Strep- when to send back to school
My DD was diagnosed with strep yesterday morning I took her to the dr first thing and she started antibiotics right away. (Early yesterday morning). This morning she is due for her second dose in a few). Can she return to school? She says her throat feels completely better but her voice is still horse.
Dr said she could return today.
ETA- she never had fever. This is recurrent strep btw. She finished antibiotics (Amoxil) Sunday and came down with it again Wednesday !

I think they are no longer contagious after 24 hours on the antibiotics so if she feels fine you can send her

My scale is "would I be OK with my sister's kid playing with mine at this point in time?"
I wouldn't want to go on a playdate with your kid this AM, so I'd say keep home if you can.
Being this is recurrent, it may be antibiotic resistant too...

This. But I will usually keep my DD home an extra day just to be safe so she doesn't infect anyone.

I'd keep her home one more day. I'd hate to get other kids sick and the timing is iffy.

I absolutely would not have sent her today. The antibiotic doesn't seem to be working if it never cleared up from the first time, so I wouldn't expose her to other people just yet.

i would say tomorrow. First, it's recurring second most people would not be on it for 24 hrs until like the middle of the following day, kwim?i would give it a little more time to kick in. Plus she probably needs some rest to clear it up
i would do it as a 24 hr school day, as in she gets home at 4, so she'd be fine around 4 pm today. to go back tomorrow

My DD had Strep in December and my pediatrician said 48 hours of antibiotics and she would be no longer contagious.
