Generic Formula...yay or nay?
My son is a month old and he is on Similac Sensitive formula, which I buy at BJs. I noticed the BJs brand sensitive formula right next to it, almost double the size and $13 cheaper! 42 bottles at 6oz for Similac and 64 for BJs. I checked the ingredients and nutritional information and it's just about the same on every single thing. I wanted to know what people thought about using the generic brand...
Let me just say that my husband is completely against using a generic brand, but if it's the same and reviews all over the Internet are positive, why not switch and save a ton of money?! I suppose I would feel less guilty about the switch because ALL formulas have to meet strict FDA guidelines in order to even be sold in the USA just trying to get some feedback.

Re: Generic Formula...yay or nay?
I think the generic formula should be just as fine as the regular.

Generic formulas have the exact same line for line nutritional value as the name brands. Has he seen the comparison?
I used generic for my son and had absolutely no issues. The dr said it was fine as well and my son was born 7 weeks early. I wish I could have used it wit my daughter but she was on Nutramigen and they don't make a generic for that

Generic is 100% the same as name brand. It has to be by law. I only used Target- I liked their line of generic because they had a ton of variety- not just the regular formula. They had AR, Soy, Gentle, etc

We only use Target's Up & Up version of Enfamil Premium Infant. In fact, we've tried using the actual Enfamil in the past and it upsets DD's belly.

This. Same with cold medicines. It's all FDA regulated and all have to meet the same standard.

Re: Generic Formula...yay or nay?
Yes!!!!!!!!I saved a TON using generic. I used Target Up and Up brand with no issue. It was only $12-13/container compared to the name brand which was $25-28/container. You just can't beat that savings.
With Target they always put their Up and Up brand on sale too and then in addition you get more savings from their Cartwheel app AND the 5% from using your Target Red Card. You can't go wrong.

I never used formula but I love their diapers and the cartwheel app is freaking amazing so whatever you're budgeting it to be it will be a little less plus if you use a red card 5% off each time.
I seriously tried every single type of diaper and targets up and up fit her body best. I love them.

Re: Generic Formula...yay or nay?
I used the generic of Enfamil in the end -- after DS stopped getting such bad reflux. I read up on it and found that there is one company that makes the generic formula, and then private labels it for multiple stores. So, if you swear by Target Up and Up, but run out and need to go to CVS, it is the same exact formula.

Re: Generic Formula...yay or nay?
I remember debating this when DS was first born. Only, for me it was powder vs liquid.
My ped was like, switch and try it. If DS doesn't like it or it doesn't jive with him, you'll know right away and you switch back. If it doesn't agree with your baby the store WILL take it back.
For us, the powder was a no go - but I'm glad I tried. I just said it didn't agree with Julian and exchanged it for the liquid.
As for the generic, you said you compared the labels and it's basically the same so I say go for it. Again, if it doesn't work out you'll know right away and you can always go back.
I'm all for saving money and I buy generic a lot.

Re: Generic Formula...yay or nay?
We used Similac with DS#1 for a while but then tried the Target generic of the same formula and never looked back.
