Can someone explain to me this "cloud" thing? I have a smartphone -- does this mean any picture in my gallery is open to the world? Or is this cloud thing an app that you download the pictures on? Sorry, I am out of touch with tech stuff Chat Icon

I don't have an iPhone so I don't know how the iCloud works but on my Droid there is an option for Cloud type storage. So let's say you run out of memory space on the phone itself, you can store more pictures on the cloud storage and some people like it as a backup- in case your phone takes a shit or gets lost/stolen etc- you have your pics stored elsewhere and you can recover them.
But I never use it. I don't like it for reasons like this

This is also why we never used the cloud.

I have complete empathy for the victims, and I consider what happened to them a crime, but with that being said I still think taking pictures with you phone was not the brightest and if you are going to do such things you do assume a certain risk. If someone walks down a dark alley to get home, over a well lit street, and they are attacked I don't blame the person who was attacked, but I do think that they were stupid for walking down the alley. Why take the risk? This isn't the first time nude pics have been hacked and leaked and it isn't going to be the last.

Yes I have a Galaxy as well. As long as you don't go and put your pics on the cloud storage, they won't automatically back up there.
I just keep all my photos stored on the phone's memory itself.
