Need prayers.
I saw the genetics counselor and while thankfully she we really nice and explained a lot in detail, she gave us a pretty grim outlook. She was very concerned about nuchal fold measurement (it's 4.8). She thinks that there is a slim possibility the baby is healthy and more likely pointing at serious issues. And not just downs but a whole slew of other problems. I'm heartbroken and just devastated.
I'm having CVS Tuesday and FISH. If you ever believed in miracles and prayer, can you please say a prayer.
And has anyone had a measurement that big and everything was fine? At this point I'm really just preparing myself for the worst, which it sounds like is very likely at this point.
Thanks for listening. This is really the only support network I have since so few people even know I'm pregnant.

Did you get the blood work results back from the NT?

Sending you many, many prayers. My coworker recently had a scare. Her nuchal fold wasn't as thick, but her blood results came back as her having a 1 of less than 5 chance of her baby having Down Syndrome. She had an amnio and everything came out perfect. Wishing the same miracle for you.

I dont have personal experience with this but I have seen many times that tests come back indicating a problem and many, many times it turns out to be absolutely nothing. Many prayers for you!

yes they weren't good either. Put me at 1 and less than 5 risk of downs. But downs isn't my main concern. The genetic counselor said there could be so many other things wrong- heart defects, other chromosomal abnormalities as well. She was very grim about my chances of having a healthy baby based on my results.

My sisters 12 week blood test came back as a 1 in 4 and my nephew is fine. PLease do not panic too much until you have more testing done.
The 12 week scan is not accurate imo.

I'm surprised at such a grim outlook. I answered you on pregnancy but my NT scan was a 4.7 and he's a happy and healthy two year old now with no issues!

Re: Need prayers.
I had an increased risk of Edwards on a blood screen. We did NT (which was normal) & a lot of additional blood work... Everything else came back normal... But I do know people who had the opposite. I wouldn't have followed through with the pregnancy (and they didn't). Better to know. But I'm sorry. That period was one of the worst in my life.

Re: Need prayers.
We were given an extremely grim outlook at 32 weeks when a scan showed an enlarged ventricle in my sons brain. I went for MRI & found out my son was missing his corpus collosum (ACC). They gave us the option to abort saying he would be a vegetable but many variables could happen. We opted to continue the pregnancy & he was born perfectly normal. He's now almost 5 & not one issue
I truly believe in miracles
