Not liking rice cereal... what to try next?
What is the order of offering new foods? Rice cereal didn't go over well. Oatmeal next?

Not liking rice cereal... what to try next?
we started with oatmeal, pureed apples, avocado, and sweet potatoes. we waited 4 days between each new food to see if there was any allergy.

We never gave plain cereal. Tastes like paper mache.. Mix oatmeal with a fruit or veggie...

Not liking rice cereal... what to try next?
I skipped rice cereal and started with oatmeal. Then I went onto apples, pears, banana, sweet potato, squash, carrots, etc... I also mixed fruits with the oatmeal to make it taste better.

Not liking rice cereal... what to try next?
I skipped cereal and went straight to avocado. Started at 4 months. She is now 7.5 months and eats whatever we eat. It is wonderful.

I skipped rice cereal and started with oatmeal cereal. Then veggies them fruits. There is no right or wrong. I have friends who skipped purees all together, starting st 6 months with actual food. Baby led weaning

I started with rice cereal with my first at 4 months and he hated it and got so constipated. It took me two weeks to get him normal again.
With my second I completely skipped rice cereal. I started with fruits and Vegtables. Then gradually started with oatmeal as well. Never gave rice. They say it's not good to give anyway, and it's really not nessary to give as first food.Better off with oatmeal. I waited to six months to introduce solids as well.

with my first we didnt do rice and went right to oatmeal. I was told rice was also binding for them as well

I would say if rice didn't go over well, I would evaluate why before moving onto Oatmeal or something else. What was DCs reaction to the rice? Did (s)he spit it out? Thrust tongue? Maybe (s)he isn't ready? Maybe the consistency wasn't right. Did you try it for at least three days? How old is DC? Sometimes it takes time to adjust to the new texture and way of eating.
If you think it was just a matter of taste, you could try oatmeal. Earths Best has oatmeal with banana. Just bought it for the first time. Haven't opened it yet. I will when we finish what we have.

No need to do cereal at all, actually. My DS skipped it completely and we went straight to veggie and fruit purees. His first food was sweet potatoes.

We did veggies then fruit then added oatmeal after we allergy tested all veg/fruit. We always mixed a veg or fruit with oatmeal.
