Stroller for two kids...help...

DS will be 3 when LO arrives.

I love his City Mini and he is a stroller kid, he still naps in it and stuff like that.

At first I was thinking a sit n stand but I dont think that seat will be comfortable enough for him so now I am thinking City Mini but fear the double will be very annoying for daily use...

Do I need both?

Thanks

If you think your DS will use the city mini double for a while then i say get it. I love my city mini double. We also have the single. The double is a little big and heavy but it so easy to maneuver. If you don't think your DS will be using the stroller for a while still, then i would go for the sit n stand.

This. DS1 was 2 when DS2 was born and we got the city mini double. It was great and I used it for everything! Easy to move and the kids were comfy. Now at almost 5 and 2.5 I hardly use the stroller, but I did use it a lot for over a year at least. I did bring it to Disney World a few months ago and it was perfect for that. I'd still probably use it for long day trips. DS1 is lazy. Lazier than DS2 and there are times he would go in and my younger one walk. Chat Icon

I have the City Mini double and love it. I can fit through doors easily and it's so easy to maneuver (except one of my wheels keeps locking and I keep on forgetting to get it fixed). We got it when my son was an infant and now at 2, we still use it a lot at 4 and 2.

I have my Chico stroller that has a big basket underneath. When I take them to the mall I take it bc my 2 yr old is a wanderer so I like to keep him confined, but after a while they both wind up walking next to me and the bags go in the stroller then my DS1 (he'll be 5 next month) will go in the basket bc he gets tired. BTW... I take him everywhere and he can walk a lot, but if I do happen to take a stroller if DS2 is with us and I know there's a lot of walking like a big park or Great Adventure he wants to sit.

Stroller for two kids...help...

My DS loves to be in the stroller as well. I considered the sit and stand but when I brought him to the store to see which one he would fit in, he flat out told me 'this isn't comfortable for when I want to lay down' Chat Icon

So I ended up borrowing a City Mini Elite double stroller from a friend and its perfect for both him and DD who is 4 months.

It's a bit heavy to push up hills but it really is a smooth ride over bumps and curbs. I have a Jeep so lifting it to get it into the trunk takes some ommphff. DS gets in and out of it just fine and DD is secured in it at her young age.

i think if you like to take walks, invest in the double. i am home with my two kids (10m and almost 34m) and i have the city mini double GT and i am so glad i do. it is easy to maneuver, pushes like a dream and i can take my kids for walks and to run errands. for me, it is an absolute necessity. also, i recommend the GT bc the wheels are bigger and it makes pushing over bumps and cracks easy.

My first 2 are 14 months apart. I had a tandem stroller and then a side by side, then a sit and stand. I got the sit and stand when they were 2 and 10 months old. It worked out perfect for us. I still had a macclaren side by side if we were going out for the day but we really didn't use it. By the time my older one was 3 he was in nursery school and if I had errands to run I would do it then and just take the single. On the weekends if we went out as a family to stores, I would push the baby and the older one would go in the cart.

Now that I think about it, with #3 was born, #2 was 3.5 and the thought of a double never crossed my mind. She was in nursery and I just had a single.

I wouldn't rush to go out and by a double just yet, but if you want one, get it off craigslist. You really won't be using it long.

I would get a sit n stand. My dd is 3.5 and it's ideal. As they get older they listen more, sleep less and are much easier to manage. I love that she climbs up on the stand part of the stroller, can sit when she wants and she right in front of me.

I would get the double
My twins are 3 andthey still like to sit in the stroller when we are out. It is easy to move and folds well.
Perfect scenario would be if you can fit both your double and single in your car so that for quick in and out trips just use the single and let your ds walk.
I had a joovy caboose not sure if that is similar to the sit and stNd but they hated sitting on that "seat"

I have a city mini Gt double. I love it and the way it handles, folds, and collapses.
I hate the basket underneath. I recently saw someone with almost the same stroller except it's made by Joovy and it has a huge basket underneath. Check it out.. It may be worth looking into. Joovy Scooter x2.

My DD is also 5 and still LOVES the stroller. We ended up getting the Graco Room For 2 Stand and Ride after DS was born because she would still poop out on days where we were out all day. I also figured it would be especially good for day trips and vacations.

So far it's worked out great! It's light, easy to maneuver and folds up small. And my DD is always asking to use it! Chat Icon

Re: Stroller for two kids...help...

Personally, I'd say buy a second hand double stroller... or wait til baby is born & see how it goes.

DS is 3.5, DD is 2 and we have not used the double stroller for 8 months now. I got the Joovy X2 because I wasn't sure how much I'd use it & was glad I did (much cheaper than other doubles). When DD was born, I couldn't go out much with a SUPER active 1.5 year old & newborn solo. We used 2 strollers (snap n go & citimini). When she was 3 months, I started going out solo (big trips: zoo, aquarium). We used the double a lot.

A lot can change in a few months:

DS used to nap in a stroller, but stopped napping at 3 exactly.

DD started walking at 13 months & never wanted to sit in a stroller again. She's got great stamina & can walk as much as her big bro.

We still keep our double around, but we walk them even to & around the bronx zoo, boatnical gardens, etc. For Disney, we bought 2 umbrella strollers (but this was a year ago & we could have done without).
