13 months old not being herself...wwyd?

my mom watches dd and called me earlier that shes been crying, nothing will soothe her. she doesnt have a fever and she ate her lunch and took her bottle.
at one point she was holding her ears but that was for a few minutes much earlier. she didnt poop yet today (normally goes once a day).
she is teething (can feel her gums swollen) so she gave tylenol hoping that would help and it did help her take a 45 minute nap...but she just woke up again crying.
would you call the dr?
im heading home from work now to get her...

She could have fluid in her ears from teething or she is brewing something.. I would take her if this is something she hasn't done before. My son had so many ear infections that I didn't know about until he spiked a fever..

DS has not been himself on random days lately and he is teething like a maniac as his molars are trying to bust through (also 13 months). I can see that the is obviously in alot of pain and uncomfortable. Biting his fingers alot, sticking his whole hand in his month (he actually gagged himself and made himself throw up last night). I would guess it is that.... poor baby Chat Icon

The ear pain could be from the teething, or could be an ear infection. I always bring them in, just in case. My kids don:t normally run fevers with ear infections.

Also, for tonight, motrin will help her sleep better.

Could easily be teething. But I am a worry wart, so I would take DC to the ped to just rule out a ear infection.

I would wait it out. One day if cranky with nothing else I not a reason for the dr IMO.

You have to do whatever will make yourself feel comfortable, but I'd probably wait it out and just keep an eye on her. It's probably teething, or maybe she's grouchy from being a bit constipated, or both. I did take my DD in once bc she was just so irritable and tugging on her ears, and it turned out it was just teething. Dr had said *usually* with no other cold like symptoms, it's *probably* not an ear infection. Hopefully she feels better tomorrow! Chat Icon

This happened with us. DD is 13 months and is such a happy baby. For a day or two, it was exactly like you said. She had the start of an ear infection and probably teething as well.

DD is also 13 months and has those days. I think its the teething that's bothering them. She has actually been gagging herself too by sticking her whole hand in her mouth!

One off day is probably nothing more than a blip. As you said, she's teething and she's probably tired from not having a good nap.

How is she today?

I would give advil and wait it out. If she is pulling on her ears then go to the ped. My girls have random off days where they cling and cry all.day.long. Then the next day they are fine.
