2 yo gift idea - need advice

Hello ladies! My bff's son is turning 2 and they recently visited the LICM and he loved it - the whole family had a blast. I was thinking, for his bday, getting them a membership to the museum for the year. Do you think this is a good idea? I am asking because she is going to be due with #2 in November, so am I nuts to think she'll be bringing her DS back to a museum and then will go at all when she has 2? I feel like its a good idea, but I don't want it to go to waste either. She's a teacher, so she could bring him on any of her breaks, and then once she does have DC2, maybe her husband might take the older child to get him out of the house a bit? I don't know, I don't have kids. Help! TIA!

Yes, I think its a fantastic gift! Its so hard shopping for kids because most have all the toys and clothing that their parents can tolerate lol... so this is nice, he will get to enjoy the museum all year

we have a bronx zoo membership and I also would recommend looking into that- I dont know how they compare in price but we love that it includes Queens Zoo, Prospect Park Zoo, Ny Aquarium and the Bronx Zoo- we get a lot of use out of it

Agreed. I think it's a great gift and usually those memberships pay off in 2-3 visits so it doesn't take much to make it worth while.

We have the zoo membership and love it. The individual memberships includes two adults and then kids under 3 are free so I would be a little over 100 for a membership the whole family could use.

2 yo gift idea - need advice

As a parent of a 2 year old I would not want a gift like this. It is kind of forcing me to take him someplace in an already hectic life. If she had said she wanted it great. I am sure memberships cost money and there are other things going on in life. JMO.

I personally wouldn't like it. We both work and are running around most weekend so trying to find time to go would be difficult and then I'd feel bad about not using it.

Thanks for the input. I think the membership pays for itself after a couple of visits (it costs $130) and I know they really wanted to go back. I was thinking it would be a good idea for a gift - better than some toys or clothes that he already has or would lose interest in. I'm still torn! I also like the Bronx Zoo membership idea, but I feel like that is a bit farther and definitely more of a drive. LICM is just in Garden City. decisions decisions!!

I love memberships!
They are tax deductible & really result
In lots of visits.
My favorite is Bronx zoo. We go for an hour... Tons of times a year.
We joined botanical gardens this year & have gone 4 times! Its an easy thing to do on a boring day!

We're members at LICM and I think it's an awesome gift. We also have the zoo membership. We love that, too! It's good for the bronx zoo, queens zoo, prospect park zoo and the ny aquarium. It would be a fabulous gift. Even if we're not up for the trip to the Bronx, we often go to the queens zoo. They have a great petting zoo and is great for little ones. We love the prospect park zoo too. I think either would be a great gift.

I wouldn't scoff at it if someone gave me a gift like that but if it's nots somewhere close to my house I wouldn't be as inclined to use it
