Any babies hate their crib?

my son turned 3 months on March 10th and we decided he needs to go from rock n play to crib because he is getting too long for rock and play and will soon be super uncomfortable. I started with having him nap in the crib at least once a day for a few weeks. It went well.

The first few nights of overnight sleep it took him about 3 hrs to get to deep sleep. He wld fuss and fuss or cry here and there. Then last 2 nights he just wldnt nap or sleep in it no matter how many hrs i tried. I gave up and put him in the rock n play :(

I dont know if im doing it wrong or if this is the 3 month growth spurt or what. But I dont think this child will ever be sleeping in his crib :( and now i feel like I ruined it even more by putting him in the rock n play.

Did anyone's LO hate the crib after their transition? what helped? what didnt? I know theyre all different but any suggestions wld help.

Any babies hate their crib?

Dd transitioned well to her crib at 7 weeks. But, try putting the mattress on an incline. He may miss that from the rnp. Also the rnp is so much more snug than a big open crib. Are you swaddling him? The halo swaddles were the best.

Re: Any babies hate their crib?

Both of my boys hated the crib. DS1 slept in our arms for the first 6 months and then slept between us for a long time. DS2 slept in the swing for a long time and then transitioned to our bed when he went through a rough time of teething and illnesses. I tried everything to get DS1 in the crib. We had a little success when he was an older infant, but once he started cutting his teeth, nothing worked to get him back in the crib.

I am too much of a softie to do CIO. While co-sleeping wasn't my first choice, it was the only way we could all get some sleep. You need to do what makes you comfortable though.

ye his mattress is on an incline already n i even rolled up blankets n placed underneath sheet for a cozy feel.

I'd try ferbers cio method but he is too young.

we tried at 3 months and it was just too early. put him back in the rnp and let him rest for another month or two. my son was BIG when we finally put him in crib (5 months)...but knew if we had to CIO we could. Right now you dont have that option, so I would make the baby comfy and keep your sanity put him back in RNP.

Did you try to put him on his side? That's what worked for us when we did the transition. He wouldn't nap for anything in his crib but slept well overnight. When he started rolling over in the RNP we had no choice but to use the crib for naps. We found the mobile to be a lifesaver. Try and put that on. He would lay there and watch it until he fell asleep.

Did you mention whether or not you swaddle him? I know you said you put blankets under for comfort, but I would try a swaddle if you don't swaddle him already. According to DD the Halo swaddle and miracle blanket are the best.

I stopped swaddling a long long time ago. He absolutely hated it after he turned two weeks!

TY!

He actually turns him self to the side sometimes when he naps so i watch him on the monitor like a hawk bec im paranoid he may suffocate lol..

I only put on the music on the mobile bec if the lights and/or movement is on he thinks its fun and can just stare or talk to it for a long long time and he never sleeps with it on.

Right now I am back to having him nap in the crib for another month and will try again when he turns 4 mo. Fingers crossed!!!

TY all!!!

Re: Any babies hate their crib?

I waited to transition till DS was old enough to do modified CIO and sleep on his stomach. It was a rough month but we came out on the other end. There is NO way he would have transitioned sooner. Though it was a pain I would still use the RnP again because otherwise I'm sure he would have never ever slept and having a newborn is stressfull enough w/out any sleep. The day he was born he was literally awake for 36 hours straight afterwards (with a 3 hour nap total during that time on my chest) because he refused to be placed down in the bassinet at the hospital. After coming home and trying the bassinet for 2-3 days and adding an additional 72 hours of no sleep the RnP saved our lives Chat Icon I was more able to handle sleep deprivation at 5 months then the first 2-3 months.

Any babies hate their crib?

At 4:40am I'm in the middle of my first night of modified CIO w my dd who will be 6 months next week. She was in the rock and play up until tonight. She slept great in it in the beginning and now she is trying to roll over so she needed to come out. It's a very hard transition. She knows at this age what is going on and she is very aware that she doesn't have the walls around her like the rnp keeping her all snuggled.
My suggestion is wait a month but in the meantime get a lovie. Keep that lovie with baby during play, car rides and nap. It will be comfort once he moves. Also start with naps like you are doing if you can. Also leave him in the crib throughout the day to play. Leave toys, put mobile on and comfort him. Take him out before he gets upset. You are showing him it's a good place to be. It's so hard but try not to resort back to the rock and play if you can hold out. He's still very young so don't stress out about getting him in his crib. Good luck. It's been hard on us with this transition and I hope it goes easier for you.

I hope CIO goes well for you!!!!

He does nap in the crib but not for long he manages to wake himself up bec he moves and stretches so much while he is asleep lol and then he drops his paci and he cries.

Whats a lovie?

Any babies hate their crib?

We did the sleep lady shuffle and thought it worked great for us.
She did the same thing but I think it helped when we finally did the transition.

A little doll w a blankie attached. This is just an example.
