Does anyone's DC hate their crib?
We have been thinking for awhile that DD (8.5 months) hates her crib. She is a great baby, but she still has some sleeping issues. Unless she is exhausted, she still cries when we put her down at night and she will have to CIO usually for at least 30 minutes. This has been going on for almost 3 months. She won't nap in her crib (and we wont do CIO for naps.) Also, any time she wakes up in her crib, she screams and cries and stands up right away. We can either let her CIO again--it would be about 30 minutes to an hour every time, or hold her and calm her til she's relaxed and then she falls asleep again. She also wakes up crying hysterically every morning. She never has a peaceful wake up in her crib, ever. When she naps (in her swing, stroller, car seat) she ALWAYS wakes up peacefully and will just be happy, content and relaxed. I think she is scared in her crib, and am not comfortable with CIO in general, and especially because it really hasnt been effective with her. I mean, eventually she will fall asleep, but CIO is not meant to be an every night thing--it's supposed to be a few days- a week and then they are sleeping comfortably. The sleeping comfortably/going to sleep comfortably part hasnt happened for her.

Wow, that must be so upsetting It does sound like she has something against her crib. What is in her crib with her? At this age maybe you feel more comfortable giving her something? Sydnie slept with a lovie since around 6 months and a lovey and handmade blanket that's crocheted with the holes since around 7 or 8 months. Maybe you could let her sleep with a t-shirt of yours or something else with your scent? A lovey? Where is her crib positioned? Maybe try rearranging her furniture? Hmmmm. That's tough and I don't have any experience with it so here's some

Thanks! She has a little puppy that she loves and has been sleeping with. (She actually picked out the puppy herself when we were in the store ) When I hand her the puppy she squeezes it and hugs it, and when i make it bark, she smiles. But after a few moments, she's upset again, and it does nothing for the wake ups. FH thinks we should get her a different mattress. I'm clueless!

Re: Does anyone's DC hate their crib?
DS hates the crib. Except for our failed attempt to get him in there at 3.5 months old, he hasn't slept in there. I've tried putting him in there a few times recently (he's 8 months old). He'll lie in there for a little while and watch the aquarium, but then he starts hysterically crying. We co-sleep and except for when he's sick, he has been STTN for over a month. I'd love to get him in the crib at some point, but at the same time, I'm happy that we'll all finally getting some sleep. I have no advice, but wanted to give .

I honestly think my DS does too. We are constantly CIO. He will only sleep here for 1/2 hour naps, but at daycare will sleep for 2 hours in PNP!

Re: Does anyone's DC hate their crib?
I swear my DS hates his lovely $400 crib
From day one, he has screamed in that thing. He never slept in it for more than 5 minutes before waking up crying. We got him to sleep in the bassinet up until he was about 2-2.5 months, but then he had enough of that too. Out of pure desperation & exhaustion, we started co-sleeping, and have been ever since (thank God we have a king size bed). He started STTN after he turned 3 months.
He's 6.5 months now, so we are going to try the crib again soon
I read in Healthy Sleep Habits I think it was, that sometimes the crib is too cold and open for them when they are used to being warm and cuddled. It makes sense I guess.

Madison never and I mean never went into a crib. We put her in a todler bed very early at 11 months with roll sides on it, bc she would not go in... now her sister is starting the same thing, i think they are clostophobic (Spelling?) good luck

Re: Does anyone's DC hate their crib?
My daughter did. She slept in the bassinett until 4 months & around 6 weeks had started STTN. The night I moved her into the crib was the last time she STTN. It was awful. She never slept more than a couple hours in there. I ended up co-sleeping after she would wake up. I converted the crib into a toddler bed at 18 months & she still wouldn't sleep. When she turned 2 we got her a regular twin bed & she's been STTN, no problems, since.
