Anyone have a son with an inguinal hernia?
My little guy has a hernia of his testicles It doesn't seem to cause him pain and the urologist doesn't want to fix it yet. Maybe next year. I'm just curious about others' experiences.
Also did it cause any difficulty potty training? TIA!

I would get a second opinion about the issue.

My son did, our urologist said they usually wait until 1 year old or so to see if it resolves on it's own first and if not ,then do surgery. We has surgery just after his 1st birthday.

How bad was the surgery? Our urologist wants to wait but I've been trying potty training and not getting success and wondering if the hernia is hindering his ability to feel when he has to go.

The surgery and the recovery really weren't bad at all. Just had to refrain for strenuous activity for awhile.

I'm not sure who you saw, but if you want a second opinion, we used Dr. Lane Palmer at Pediatric Urology Associates in Lake Success.

Anyone have a son with an inguinal hernia?
My 10w old has one, went to the surgeon today, he's having surgery on the 25th. I asked about waiting until he was over a year, he said he wouldn't suggest waiting more than a few weeks.

Anyone have a son with an inguinal hernia?
When my son was 7 weeks he was diagnosed with one and I was told by the surgeon and my pediatrician to do it soon and it was scheduled a month later. It ended up having to be pushed back a month and my son cried for two months with "colic" and the crying ended as soon as he had the surgery. It wasn't colic, he was in pain for two months from the hernia.

My friends son was diagnosed at 3 weeks with it, surgery was scheduled one week later. They wanted to get it taken care of ASAP (according to surgeon). I wouldn't want to wait on it
