convertible car seat for grandmas car?
we got the britax marathon for our cars
we want to get a car seat for my mom's car but not looking to spend as much bc dd will rarely be in it. (maybe once a month, if that?)
what are good less expensive car seats?

convertible car seat for grandmas car?
My parents and in-laws have a Cosco carseat..not sure which one, but I remember it was highly rated. It ran about $45 bucks each

Cosco Scenera...they sell at Target or Walmart. They're about $40/$50, roomy, high weight limits, great safety ratings!
We have them for grandmas car and honestly I prefer them to my Britax!

None of these answers are correct if we are talking about certain vehicles on the road. Without knowing the make and model of a car the proper answer cannot be given.

I have a question. What do you rec for a non specific car. On the cheap side. I personally can't pick a seat based on a car when we can't but a new seat everytime we get a new car.
So I really don't get the specific car question.

I thought car seats were tested in cars. They never tell you based on this make model this car seat is safe but in this make and model its not. Its only generalized ratings so i dont get the car specifc question either

I believe the car specific question is asked b/c certain seats fit better in certain cars. Like a bigger seat won't fit well in a smaller car.
Just found this on a site - Make sure that the car seat is the right fit for your vehicle. Not all car seats fit in all vehicles. Test the car seat you plan to buy to make sure it fits well in your vehicle.

Look at the evenflo sure ride. It rf until 40 lbs. it's less than $100

Thank you for adding the clarification - Not all seats work with all cars. When seats are tested they are on a bench type seat very generic. When we recommend seats we say the following to parents: The best seat for you is the one you can afford, the one that fits your car and the one you can use correctly every time.
That is why I ask for specifics. While I saw the question is there a generic seat, the answer when it comes to the least expensive one is - not really. But if push comes to shove, the Graco Classic 50 and the Evenflo Tribute work the best.

My parents drive a Honda Accord and they have an Evenflo Triumph convertible seat for DS. It was under $100.
