Nuts

Dd is 14mos. She ate something prepared with almond milk and I didn't realize till after. So I take it to mean she isn't allergic to almonds but what about all over nuts specifically peanuts? Could she be allergic to peanuts but not almonds?

When did you introduce peanuts? And how?

I gave DD peanut butter around 10 months with the ped's okay. You may want to try almond milk or almond butter a few times though to be sure there's no allergy.

The only nuts I was told to hold off on we're peanuts. DD had almond milk before she was 1. I would just give your DD almond milk for 3 days and if no reaction, I'd say she's not allergic.

You can be allergic to peanuts but not almonds. They are different types of nuts (almonds are tree nuts, but peanuts aren't, I believe).

ETA, I introduced peanuts around 20 months by giving DD a very thin layer of PB spread on a saltine cracker. After a few mornings of this, we moved onto PB & jelly sandwiches.

Nuts

After having her blood test for allergies I started trying things with nuts in it. I tried peanut butter and these granola bars that have nuts in them. But thats it.

My son is allergic to peanuts and didn't have a reaction until the 2nd and 3rd time, so I wouldn't just assume she's good after only having it once.

Treenuts and Peanuts are in a separate category when it comes to allergies. My son can have almonds and walnuts, just not peanuts. I avoid all nuts to be safe.

We gave peanut butter at 10 or 11 months too. Dr said to.

My peds told us to try nuts and peanuts ASAP, no longer waiting til 2. She has had almond products and peanut butter now several times and has been fine. They are totally separate entities thoug (peanuts are legumes and not nuts) so you have to check exposure to both.
