Not pulling herself up

DD will be 11 mos. next week and I'm starting to be concerned that she is not even trying to pull herself up to stand. We haven't even had to drop her crib mattress down at all yet! She also doesn't want to stand holding on to something (I.e. A table) other than a person.

DD is long (28 inches) and very skinny (15lbs, 4 oz), so I don't know if her body type makes it hard to balance?

Did anyone else's child not pull themselves up til later? How did it all work out with walking? Thanks.

DD didn't pull to stand until maybe 15 months and a month of PT. We also had the crib at the top until close the then also. Can she get herself to sitting, crawl, etc? We had to start putting DD on her belly every time we put her down and she finally started getting up to sitting (that was at 14 months). The PT had us do a lot of twisting activities with her since she didn't do any of that and needed to to stand up on her own. We would do the shape sorter and put the shapes on one side of her and hold the bucket on the other side so she had to twist back and forth. Also sit next to her with our legs out and put the shapes on the other side so she'd have to reach over to get a shape. We did that with all kinds of toys. She started walking at 16 months which is late but still in the normal range. She also has flat feet which the PT noticed but the ped never did and I guess that makes balancing harder.

I would question what she is doing along with the above poster. Is she doing everything else? Does she sit? If it's just pulling up, I would say not ready yet.

Re: Not pulling herself up

My DD is 13 months and doesn't pull to stand yet. My Ped wasn't concerned as she has done everything late. Here is when she did everything...

7 months - could sit with boppy behind her
8 months - sit on her own if I put her in sitting position
10.5 months - could get to sitting on her own.
11 months - started crawling
12.5 months - pulls up to knees

That's it so far! It's not that she can't do it she just not interested lol!

If you have concerns don't wait. I made the mistake of listening to my pediatrician and my DD didn't start PT until 14 months.

If you have a concern call EI directly and request an evaluation. You don't need a referral from the pediatrician.

DD just got discharged at 26 months and it's the best thing I ever did for her.

She crawled at 11.5 months, pulled to stand at 15 months and walked at 19 months.

I definitely agree with this! But, I would think you may be better off waiting until she turns one to give her a better chance at qualifying since the expectations would be higher. If I had listened to my ped, DD wouldn't have been evaluated until 15 months since they wanted to continue to wait and see.

I agree as well. Ei has been great for my twins. They are 2 and have been in the system since they were 6 m.

Dd pulled to standing for the first time the day she turned 11 months. She was late for everything, I'm pretty sure. She couldn't sit up by herself until around 9 months, and crawled around 10 months. Now at 13 months she's cruising but still not walking. I'm a little concerned because I see some babies walking so much earlier, but dds pediatrician did not seem concerned yet.

Re: Not pulling herself up

She is doing everything else. She's been sitting since about 7 mos., can crawl (though she still belly crawls) since 8.5 mos., and she is great at twisting, rolling, maneuvering around. She can go from sit to laying Down, but not vice versa. It really does just seem to be the pulling up to stand.
