New mom here! When to start tummy time?
I forgot to ask the ped yesterday and we aren't going back until his 1 month appointment, and I feel silly calling just to ask this. DS is 10 days old and his umbilical cord stump is still on. Can we start tummy time or do we need to wait until it falls off?

At that age I'd just lay flat with DD on my chest. I didnt really start floor tummy time until 2-3 months.

Thanks! We've definitely done this a lot because he LOVES laying on my chest, and he will lift his head to look around/turn side to side so I'm glad that's a good sub for actual tummy time!

My ped told me we could start at 2 weeks old. 2-3 times a day for 2 minutes.

my per said from day 1, 6 hours a day lol.
we did a few minutes a couple of times a day bc thats all she would tolerate. now shes 5 months rolling all over and mostly plays on her belly

I started day 1. A few minutes at a time or what she can tolerate. When she was that little I would have her on my chest and talk to her so she would lift her head to see me.

Started as about a week old. But only a fee minutes at a time and build up to more time. And do it a few times a day

My ped said we could start as soon as the umbilical cord fell off as well. Once it did he laid on my chest or across my lap and we would do short periods of time on his activity mat.

This. Realistically I probably started at day 5 or so once his umbilical cord fell off.
Now at 7w he can lift his head, hold it up and look around for 6 seconds.

We started day 1 with all 4 kids. I put them on the boppy pillow and they would lift their head up and look around at 1 day old. Like the photos. This was DS the day we came home from the hospital at 1 day old. He could do this for a few minutes at a time.

When leaving the hospital the nurse showed us how to do it and said we could start right away
She hated it though so we really didn't do it too much.

As soon as you can. My pediatrician is beating this into us but DD HATES it, starts crying, and doesn't last long at all.
