I am freaking out! -Warning- TMI
I gave birth to DD 5.5 months ago. In the couple of weeks afterwards I passed clots. I got my period around 12 weeks. I went on BC shortly afterwards. I am almost done with a pack but started spotting a week early. I thought it was odd but I figured since I'm on the BC where you only get your period every 3 months that maybe it was messing with my cycle. This morning I started bleeding as if it was CD1 so I decided I would start taking the placebo pills 1 week early and start my new pack next Sunday. Well I just went to the bathroom and saw a blood clot that was about the size of a half dollar. I am FREAKING out!!! Why would I still be getting a clot so many months afterwards??? I am going to call my doc in the morning but has this happened to anyone and does this mean something bad?? I am so afraid of what still is in there. I am totally freaking out. Please tell me if you think this is bad or if you have any advice.

i would call your doctor, because you have recently given birth and it is unusual for you, but I do have heavy periods all the time with clots. It doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong, and it could be your period just changed after having your child. My period did change a little after having my son. Feel better!

Sounds like you just had breakthrough bleeding which is very common on BCPs. It's also very common for your periods to chang eafter having a baby (heavier, lighter, cramps, no cramps) from how it used to be. But you need to just stay on the active BCPs and let your body adjust to being on them, not start the placebos early.

You're right. I thought more about it and I don't want to mess with anything. I'm going to continue the pills as normal.
