Anyone on Synthroid?
So my RE said that my thyroid level (whatever that means) is at 29, which is in the normal range, but for pregnancy they like it be at 24. He prescribed 25mcg of Synthroid and told me to continue taking it even when I get pregnant. He wants me to re-check my level in 3 weeks.
Now I'm a little confused bc when I read the info on the drug, it says it is used to treat low thyroid levels by adding to the hormone. Why would he be having me take this if my level is too high? I tried calling the dr but I was unable to get in touch with anyone today.

Re: Anyone on Synthroid?
With the thyroid when your level is high, that makes you hypothyroid (slow) when your level is low, that makes you hyperthyroid (fast).
So when it comes to the thyroid, high level means you need the hormone to bring you into normal range.
I was hyperthyroid. Had radiation to destroy my thyroid and since am now hypothyroid and on synthroid.

Thank you so much for explaining. Makes sense now

Total TSh 1.5. 29 may have been your T4. There are different measurements for different things
It's kinda like when you get your cholesterol tested. They do total and then Good, Bad and triglycerides separate as well.
