Ok pity party over for me, back on.few questions especially those that have empire plan
Seeing dr trivax today for post consult of failed IVF.got in for 600 pm due to cancellation
Wanna make another consultation appt? Will ins cover it? I called empire they said only one consultation per year per doctor for same issue. I technically had a consult with trivax this year before I started this. So I'm not covered for second opinion? Wanna make sure before I start calling making second opinion appts.

That makes NO SENSE TO ME what-so-ever from an insurance stand-point. Except to say that CONSULT codes are different from NEW PATIENT codes. Perhaps if you went to a new doctor and they just processed it as a NEW PATIENT code (which most doc's do now because the consult codes get rejected ALL THE TIME), I'm sure it would be good.
Also to say that MOST practices check insurance coverage, eligibility and benefits ahead of the appointment because if they DON'T and then the claims get rejected and they try to bill the patient - MOST of that never gets collected. (I know I wouldn't, it's on the practice to check eligibility and benefits and if you don't collect upfront, I'm not paying after - and I'm a practice manager for a neurologist.)
I would schedule, and just ask that they please verify eligibility and benefits before the appointment and to please call you with any out of pocket expenses they **think** you might have to pay.

Yes, I believe second opinions, reg office consults and NP consults are coded differently. So glad you got in with him so fast!!!!! Please update us on what he is thinking for the next try. It is important to document all of your stim/meds combos and response to each so you can tell the next DR if you go for the second opinion. Hoping for you!

I do not have Empire, but just wanted to say consults are not that much money. We have a high deductible so our consult we had to pay entirely OOP. The cost for the consult was under $200. They also did a sono, so I think that added slightly to the bill.
Good Luck!!!

This depends greatly upon the doctor. Our consult with Dr. Davis @ Cornell was $600.

I have Empire. You're talking about NYSHIP, the state workers plan? They always covered my follow-ups, more than one per year. Maybe they bill it as something different? I saw San Roman at RSofNY when he was there and had follow-ups. Same thing when I saw Davis, and everything was covered. Contact the billing person at the clinic.
