Empire Plan/Semi-Private Room/Huntington Hospital Question

Good Morning....

How many patients are in a semi-private room at Huntington Hospital? I am wondering as I am such a light sleeper as it is, I might consider a private room if the expense is not too much.

Does anyone know how much more it would be for a private room?

I have Empire Government...Another teacher here.Chat Icon

semi private is two people per room... the extra cost for the private room I believe was $200-$250 per night ans is usually not covered by insurance.

I got lucky and had a semi private room, but with no roomateChat Icon

2 patients are in a semi private room at Huntington.
I delivered in March last year, had a csection, so I was there for a few days and never had a roommate. There were a total of 6 babies in the nursery while I was there....maybe you will have the same luck.

Re: Empire Plan/Semi-Private Room/Huntington Hospital Question

Like the others said - 2 women to a room. I will add that you have to share a shower with everyone else - not jsut your roommate unless you have a private room.

The light sleeper part doesn't mean anything. The nurses will be in every 3 hours to take your temp & blood pressure.

This was my schedule:
Midnight - temp & blood pressure check
1AM - baby brought to room
2AM - baby picked up
3AM - temp & BP again
5AM - baby brought to room
6AM - temp & BP check
6:30AM - baby picked up
7AM - breakfast
9AM - baby brought to room AND temp & BP check
Noon - temp & BP check
12:30 - lunch
3PM - temp & BP check
6PM - Temp & BP check AND dinner
6:30PM - baby picked up
7PM - visiting hours start
9PM - visitors thrown out by hospital security (can take up to 1/2 hour - once gone, temp & BP check)
9:30 - baby brought to room
10PM - daddy kicked out (daddy usually returns baby to nursery at this point, or staff will come get baby)

As you can see, with all the temp & BP checks, paying for a private room won't get you more sleep than a semi-private room.
