food sensitivites before versus after age 1
DS and DD have had a couple of food sensitivities (they ate hummus and ravioli and got a raised red mark on their chins that went away after about 1/2 an hour.)
If this happened to your dc, did you retry the foods at 1? What happened? TIA

I waited and had DD allergy tested (the blood test) at a year.
It's all confusing to me though. For example, DD definitely had a reaction to grapes the first time she had them. Hives on her face like you mentioned that quickly faded. The allergy test showed no allergy to them. I did retry with organic grapes after that and she was fine.

Did they get hummus or sauce on their chin? My DD got red splotches on her face after eating hummus (she also got hummus ALL over her face) and I freaked out thinking she was allergic. But then I thought it could've just been her sensitive skin reacting. I have sensitive skin on my face, so I dabbed some hummus on my cheek, waited 5 minutes, wiped it off, and sure enough I had a red splotch in the exact shape of the hummus spot. DD also has this happen is pizza sauce or chocolate sits on her face for too long.
I'd retest the foods, and consult an allergist if you're not sure.

I think it may be just a sensitivity. They had eaten sauce before, so it wasnt that.
I was planning on trying a bit once they turned one and if anything happened, bring them to an allergist. I think DS in particular has really sensitive skin and he blows up at the slightest bump or bang. I hope they just grow out of it.

Same exact thing happened to DS. He also has sensitive skin. Got blotchy after eating hummus, but was fine shortly after.

Re: food sensitivites before versus after age 1
My LO showed a sensitivity to eggs around 8 or 9 mos old - so we have been only giving her the yolks up till now. She's turning 1 tomorrow and we gave her the whole egg (accidentally, but that's another story ) the other day and she was totally fine! (retested yesterday) I am SO relieved! Now I have to test out her milk sensitivity ...
