not sure if anyone knows the answer to this - but would a mother qualify for FMLA if her child gets state funded speech therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy? i know its not a "serious illness" so im not sure if it qualifies
the quick back story is that her son gets this while in school and the school is closed christmas week, a week in Feb and a week in April. she has no paid time off left, so she requested to take unpaid leave and was denied. she can either still take it which risks getting fired, or she needs to find a sitter who can watch her two boys and handle the therapy appts during those weeks. just trying to help her with options

I understand how important therapy is because my twins are part of EI well atleast one is at this point. There were a few times we were not at my home due to construtcion or hurricane sandy etc. The therapists would come to wherever I was staying. You should tell your friend to have therapists due the same. It's not worth losing job over.

She had a babysitter that she uses maybe once every other month - she is hoping she will be able to watch the boys during those weeks.
She can't lose her job over this - worry case is he won't have therapy those weeks
