I'm also curious! DS's BDay is Dec 24th. I want to throw a big party but we will probably do something with a few kids and some adult family. Maybe at Gymboree or a similar kid play place.

First Boirthday Party...

MY DS birthday is Dec 28. For his first I just had immediate family over for pizza and cake.

I am not a fan of big parties and don't see the point in spending money...That combined with the craziness of the holidays.

ETA - They are too young to really know about a big party or small party. They will be happy if you put them in a cardboard box to play!!!!

Re: First Boirthday Party...

I had small family parties for my girls (April and November birthdays)...this time, my DD has a summer birthday so I am going to do a big carnival themed party...our friends also have kids now, so there are kids to come now, which we didn't have then. I am not the kind of person who has a party at a restaurant/hall, so if she was born in a cooler month, she would have a small family party at home too!

DD was born 12/21, so we're going to have her 1st bday on 12/14 at a restaurant in NYC. We were debating doing something in a private room in an apt building, but didn't want to deal with the logistics of coordinating food, clean up etc.

Haven't picked a theme yet, but will probably just do something super girly like butterflies or princesses. We're anticipating 60 adults / 10 - 15 kids so will be bringing in an entertainer for a bit.

First Boirthday Party...

DD will be 1 on 12/8 and after much discussion, we will be having her party at our house. DH and I really didn't want a crazy, huge, $$$ party, so it will just be immediate family, some friends and very close cousins. I think it will be between 20-25, including kids.

We are having a Phoebe Fiesta! Her bday falls on a Sunday, so we'll he having it on her actual birthday and will be cooking ourselves. It will be a bit of work, as all parties are, but I don't mind doing it for my sweet lady!

Re: First Birthday Party...

We are doing brunch at a catering hall for about 50 people. We aren't going crazy, but will have a nice cake, etc and kids entertainment.

First Birthday Party...

We are having a small party at my moms, probably just some of my family since DH's family never comes to anything... Anyway. His birthday is 11/1 and we will be having it the next day. I wanted to do a monster bash since its so close to Halloween, but with the small attendance and hardly any other children, something like that will be better when he's older.

We actually let him wander up and down the party aisle at party city and he picked up all the Elmo stuff (loves Elmo books - never watches Sesame Street, lol). So apparently Elmo is our theme. I want to do some fun things, photo booth, cake pops, cupcakes that are Cookie Monster. We will see what I actually do (Pinterest moms, where do you ever find them time???).

First Birthday Party...

We had a party at Jane's Carousel for DD's birthday. We had food and drinks. In a way it was a big party with a small feel. We bought ride tickets for the kids and there was a food festival if people didn't want to eat our sandwiches. Everyone seemed to have fun.

Re: First Birthday Party...

DD turns one on 12/18 so we are having a party in a private room of a pizzeria/Italian restaurant on 12/14. It is just bare bones family (our aunts, uncles, cousins) and very close friends, which for is still amounts to 60 people roughly. DD loves animals so we are doing a little jungle animal theme. Nothing over the top, just invites and favors related to the theme.

We're having a lunch buffet in a private room of an Italian restaurant with about 50 people. Just figured it would be easier than having that many people at our house.

I had a mickey party for my DS 1st birthday. There are so many fun things you can do with that theme. I put white circles on red solo cups for drinks, dipped Oreos in red chocolate and put white confetti sprinkle dots. I was planning on making cupcakes with mini Oreos as ears but it was too much work. I also made labels using a disney font everything came out super cute! We had it in my ILs backyard since it was Labor Day weekend.

Re: First Birthday Party...

DD will be 1 in February. We have a party on the bigger side booked with family and friends. After this we will do parties with just our immediate family and maybe a small gathering with friends. Our theme is Minnie Mouse.

We're not doing a big 1st bday, but I'm pricing places for a shower now. Sergios in Massapequa has really low prices. I've never been in it, so I can't tell you what it looks like or how the food is.
