Catholic Confirmation ceremonies
Is there a particular time of year that Roman Catholic confirmation ceremonies take place?

Re: Catholic Confirmation ceremonies
Thanks! Any idea how far in advance they notify you of the date?

Re: Catholic Confirmation ceremonies
I think it depends on the parish. My parish actually does Confirmations in the fall, but I know my nieces and nephews made theirs in the spring.

Yes, definitely depends on the parish. I made mine in the spring years ago, now my nephew is making his in the fall.

My SS had his in the Spring. My friend's son is having his in a couple of weeks. He finished his class a while ago, but for some reason (she told me but I don't remember), they hold off on the ceremony until the fall. It depends on how the parish does it.

kids are generally done during the week because the bishop does them all - so he makes his way to all the parishes - talk to your parish they are planned out way in advance
if it is an adult - they are generally done on the easter vigil because a priest can perform them that day - it is common to see a few adults confirmed at an easter vigil - that is when my dh was confirmed

Re: Catholic Confirmation ceremonies
For awhile, I know churches were advised to not release the date too far in advance because they were trying to avoid people making an excuse for a huge planned party (I.e. On the caliber of a bat mitzvah) and wanted to keep the serious aspects of the sacrament. I don't know if this is still the case though.
