Catholic/ protestant christenings

can you tell me what the requirements for godparents are for each. I believe with the catholic church atleast 1 godparent must be confirmed.....not sure about protestant though.

We baptized Claire Catholic, and one godparent has to be catholic and baptized/confirmed. However they did not verify this information in anyway at all. It was just briefly mentioned when we were filling out paperwork

This is usually the case but some churches will request a letter from the parish they belong to stating this is true..I would check with your church as far as what they "require"

Well, I'm Methodist and my church didn't have any requierments. We just met w/ our pastor and he explained the role the Godparents play on a child's life.

Re: Catholic/ protestant christenings

Andrew was baptized in a Roman Catholic church. There were no requirements asked of either godparent. We were told when choosing that we had to have one of each, meaning no two godmothers or vice versa...
