Since your son has concerns - and isn't close with her, if she isn't having a good day, I don't think it's a good idea if he goes and visits.

I wouldn't want my child to get upset after he sees the grandmother if she is having a bad day. Plus, they don't have a close relationship to begin with. So, I agree with you.

Similar situation here.For this age, out of sight out of mind. I don't think you should even ask his parents, let your DH go alone.

no i wouldnt want my ds going either. i had a hard time dealing with my grandmother dying and going to visits to nursing homes and i was like somewhere between ages 21-26 at the time... so i understand how you are feeling. go with your gut.

I agree with you. If the grandmother is out of it or very ill that it could scare your DS, I would definitely not bring him.

I think you are being perfectly reasonable. Not that you need it, but if you are looking for validation - my older sister was very ill and died when I was 4. She was in a hospice/nursing home at the end and my parents didn't have any choice so they took me with them to visit her. I can still picture every horrible moment of it, 30 yrs later.
