Grumpy 4 yr old
DS can be sweet as pie one min then be the biggest grump the next -- scrunched up eyebrows, using a deep mad voice, arms crossed. Now that schools started hes doing it there too at times. Is this normal at this age? When do they stop?!

i notice my 4 year old gets like this when he is over tired or doesnt nap.

My 4 yr old does this too. 
It's like they found their voice and now want to test us. Who knows?!
He can be the biggest sweetheart and mush one moment and then a change in activity or being overtired (as a PP said) can change moods too.
My 2 yr old is total opposite. Usually more happy go lucky, but in a different way and more stubborn.
My 4 yr old can snap out of it easily, but it takes distraction or he just needs his "me" time like we all do. Also, his 2 yr old can get him annoyed too. He is into order, building and how things work. My 2 yr old likes to destroy and knock things down. 
ETA - he's actually an angel in school though. He gives me a mood when he comes home so I let him have some time then he's fine and we discuss school.

My DS is 5 now. I found 4 to be a very grumpy age!! LOL. 5 has been a little better.
