how do you get your baby to nap longer?

my dd is almost 4 months.

she sleeps 12 hours at night.

her naps are only about 30 minutes each though and i know she needs to go down a little longer because a short while after she wakes up she starts rubbing her eyes again and whining.

what can i do to extend her 30 min naps to 60 min naps?

Mine is the same and per daycare there is no way to make them sleep longer. Eventually they will take longer naps but not till they are ready.

I notice a lot of people post this. My dd did this too at 1 point snd then eventually they just got longer. It seems to be a phase they all go through...

The swing! My dd will only nap 45 minutes in her crib but will nap for 2 hours in the swing. So for now, I just let her nap in the swing. I figure I'll try transitioning her in a few weeks. But for now, in the swing she stays!

I read books, I googled, I tried putting her down sooner, I tried putting her down later, I tried the wake to sleep method, I tried rocking her back to sleep/holding her etc. I tried EVERYTHING and drove myself nuts. and then, I accepted it. she was a cat napper. she took 4 30min naps a day for a long, long time. then we went down to 3. now we're at 2 naps... usually one is 30min and one is an hour & 15 but some days it's still 2 30min naps. it's just her. and she has never ever napped longer than 90min. ever. not even once lol she sleeps a lot at night so, I guess I can't have it all Chat Icon

This. I remember literally wanting to tear my hair out for months and months bc DS would take 25-30 minute naps and be soooo tired and miserable and cranky allllll day. It was so hard to deal with and it was so upsetting for him bc he was so miserable. I thought he would neverrrrr outgrow it because it continued on for so long. And he, too, slept 11-12 hours at night (and did so from two months old). He is now 12 months and I can't remember when he started to take long naps - maybe around 8 months? But the shortest naps he will take are 40-45 minutes but most naps are at least an hour long, sometimes 1:30. Often when they become mobile they tire more easily and need longer naps.
