Nighttime seperation anxiety
How do you handle it if you all sleep in the same room?
DS is 10 months and the past few nights neither he nor I have gotten any sleep. We (unfortunately) sleep in the same room, his crib three steps from my bed, and he wakes up crying for me. When I go to comfort him, he grabs my hand for dear life and won't let me leave. Once he falls asleep, if I try to take my hand back, he immediately wakes up and the process starts all over again.
Last night his tantrum got so bad that I had to take him out of the room and sit on the couch with him. The entire debacle started at 1215 and didn't end until he completely passed out on my chest some time after 3. Then he's up for the day between 5 and 530. The night before a similar situation and I am completely dreading tonight.
He's only sttn a handful of times (maybe 3-4 times?) and it's been with DH and I not in the room. We'd been sleeping sitting up on the couch in our way too hot living room, and although this method seemed to work, it's just too hot and too uncomfortable out here to make it a perment thing.
Can it be done? Sharing a room and not co-sleeping at this age without DS flipping because he wants me at night? I'm willing to move our bed into the living room but DH is hesitant.
We were suppose to be in our new house at the end of November, where DS would finally have his own room, but now that's fallen through and who knows when we will be out of here.
Suggestions? CIO doesn't work for us, we end up vomiting and really, he's staring and crying at me from his crib and that's too cruel for me to ignore. Should DH and I just go back to sleeping on the couch?

Re: Nighttime seperation anxiety
If possible, I would put an ac in the living room and sleep in the living room. It sounds like this would be the best possible solution. Another couple of weeks and it will be cool at night so you won't have to worry about the heat.

We can't put an ac in our living room unfortunately.
Time to broach the subject once again. DH will shoot it down and sleep happily in the meanwhile. Ugh.
