Play groups

Hi all!!

I do not come on here often at ALL so I apologize if you don't recognize my name... But I do have a question for you ladies. My son just turned one yesterday (cannot believe it!) and I was wondering if I should join some sort of play group, music group, library group, mommy and me, etc. in my area. We are in East Setauket and I am a SAHM so he does not go to daycare, therefore has little to no interaction with "peers." Any opinions on this, especially for moms whose babies are not in daycare? TIA!

Re: Play groups

Your DC may enjoy music and Gymboree type classes.

I am in a playgroup with a small group of moms. All the first borns are born in the same year (2009) and most of the moms have siblings born in 2011 or 2012. It is really nice to get together because the kids know each other. Two of the moms (founders) of the group are super moms and organize fantastic activities. I don't know where they find the time but they are always hosting themed playdates and parties for every holiday.

Re: Play groups

try gymboree. DD is not in daycare, my MIL watches her and they really enjoy going to the play and learn classes. you can take a free class to see if its the right environment for you. in DD's class there were lots of SAHM who wanted their kids to play with other kids

Play groups

One of my good friends is in Setauket and she met a group of girls through Meetup.com. They get together weekly, organize different outings for the kids, have moms night out, etc.

Do you happen to know the name of the group? Thanks again.

Is this for the Emma S Clark library in Setauket? I went onto their website and did a search and nothing came up for babies in his age range. Is there something different in the booklet?

I went onto the Benner's Farm website and couldn't find anything for children under four years. Maybe I missed something? It is quite possible.

My playgroup also originated on meetup.com (we now live in VA though). Since joining, it has been taken offline but it truly is an awesome group of moms and kids.

Thanks so much for this link!! Birth-15 months is at 11:00 and the only problem is that he's still napping at that time! Grrr I can't seem to catch a break.

I emailed Benner's and their classes start at two years old but you're totally right - definitely something to look forward to.
