Girls who have done multiple IVFs

Did you have pretty consistent response to stims each time?? My first IVF we retrieved 6 eggs, last IVF we got 11.

We are upping my meds this time, but is it crazy to have hope of a great response to the increase? We had poor fertilization with ICSI both cycles (2/5 then 3/10). The doctor told me to expect a similar fertilization rate again, due to the low quality of DH'a frozen sperm.

We refroze DH's "leftover" thawed sperm from last cycle but that is a long shot. This is our last good vial and I'm just holding on to some ounce of hope that I will have a stellar response to stims and make like 20 follicles this time, and then MAYBE, I will have a good 2 or 3 to put back and maybe even a few to freeze?

Am I delusional? LOL? Be honest. I'm getting so nervous!

For the 3 cycles, I have done my response has always been similar. I think I had 19, 21, and 18 eggs retrieved. Each time my medication has been slightly different. This time I was on very few meds, but still had more or less the same response.

I know we have very similar stories and I am praying for you and your DH Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Girls who have done multiple IVFs

Even with all those eggs, so far we have only had 2 good embryos - both from this cycle. Luckily at least one of them stuck - we will find out more details next Thursday.

None of ours have made it to freeze...well technically 4 did when we were at another clinic, but they are all grade D so we are trying to figure out what to do with them now.

Thanks - so far I am feeling fine. I was feeling bloated, but now not so much.

I've done two. The first time they retrieved 28 eggs and the second time 29. I had different protocols though. The first protocol was lupron and the second BC and the IVFs were done 6 years apart.

I had 2 IVF cycles - 4 and 5 eggs retrieved. So not great - but similar response.

Good luck!!

Do they think the poor fertilization has to do with the frozen sperm quality also? If so, our stories just keep getting more similar!!!

Good luck next Thursday!

And thank you ladies for all your responses. I guess I will just go into this hoping for a similar response (and outcome!) to IVF 2.

I hate this and all the anxiety and not being sure what the future holds.

I've had two fresh cycles and retreived 21 and 19 respectively. I was on different protocols for each - a lot less meds the second time for a slower/better quality response (size and growth rate of follies). DH has poor everything but we got much better quality embryos the second time around and I think it has to do with the quality of my eggs. It's a bit confusing to type but I guess what I'm saying I believe for the follies it's more about quality than quantity.

I've had about the same amount of follies retrieved both times. Are you open to accupuncture?

I started acu between my first and second cycles. That is probably why I saw the increase that I did.

Thank you though.

During my 1st cycle, I had such a poor response that we never even made it to retrieval. Cycle was cancelled after I stimmed for 12 days.

2nd cycle, switched to Micro Dose Lupron, suppressed with BCP instead of patch, and stims were upped significantly. 6R, 5M, 2 fert w/ICSI. We transferred both. DD is 6 mos old.

Currently on day 4 of our 3rd cycle with super high stims again.

In my experience, increasing stims made all the difference in the world. Good luck!!

Re: Girls who have done multiple IVFs

I've done multiple and first time they retrieved 17 eggs and second time I had 31 eggs(so almost doubled).

First cycle I was on Menopur and Bravelle and my second cycle I was on Menopur and Gonal F.
