If your child was a flower girl or ring bearer

Did they go to the rehearsal dinner? I am MOH in my BFF's wedding next Friday, DS is the ring bearer, he is 2. Obviously, he will come to the church to rehearse at 4:00. My parents are going to have my 4 month old, so they offered to pick my DS up from the church at 5. The dinner is at 7, which to me means we won't even leave the restaurant until 9:30 or so. DS is usually asleep by 8:15. I think it would be nice if he was there, but I also want to relax and enjoy myself as her maid of honor, not sure I will be able to with a cranky 2 year old. Is it expected that he be there? TIA

Re: If your child was a flower girl or ring bearer

My flower girl didn't come to my rehearsal dinner and my daughters didn't go to my SIL's rehearsal dinner because it started around the same time. It wasn't a big deal.

They did but it was my brother's wedding and it wasn't the night before the wedding so I didn't mind keeping them up late.

Both my girls will be flower girls next summer they will be 4 & 2. I have to take both them because anyone who would babysit will be at the rehearsal dinner.

Re: If your child was a flower girl or ring bearer

When my sister got married my daughter was 3. She came to the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner which were close to each other.

When my SIL got married last year my daughters were 6 and 11/2. They did not go. It was late and all the way out east.

My daughters were just flower girls in a wedding, they are 3, I was not going to take them but the bride said she wanted them there, she gave them their gift and they had a good time, but it started at 7

Re: If your child was a flower girl or ring bearer

My girls were both flower girls and my son was the ring bearer in my cousins wedding. DS was 18 months old. My aunt and cousin asked us to bring all the kids to the rehearsal dinner. My girls did great but my son was grumpy. It was past his bedtime and I wish I would have kept him home.

My dd was 4 at the time, but did not go to the dinner. Only the church. My mil took her and my youngest home to put them to bed

Mine did. She was almost 6 at the time. Plus, we knew we were keeping her home from school the following day, so we figured it she was tired and cranky, no biggie.

However, with DS who is almost 2, I don't think I would bring him, or I would be prepared to leave early. He gets cranky when his sleep schedule is thrown off, so it would not be worth it to me.

Re: If your child was a flower girl or ring bearer

Dd was a flower girl twice. Once at 2 years old. She went to the rehearsal and wedding. Wedding #2 she was a flower girl at ceremony, not invited to reception let alone rehearsal. She was 5 years old for the second wedding.
