Need serious help with potty training

Im at a loss please anyone with advice i would appreciate it! My dd is 3 n understands a lot n she tells me she wants to b a big girl.. On july 4 she held in her pee for soooo long that she couldnt walk bc of the cramps n pain. We put a diaper on n boom she went. It seriously felt like 5 lbs of pee. I called dr n he said she's not ready!! Ok fine but now 2 weeks later im trying again. We had her 3 year appt with another dr n she explained to my dd about peeing on the potty. My daughter says 'im trying'.. Right?!? The dr was like wow she has an answer for everything lol
Yesterday we started again.. I use panties in the house but if i have to go to the store i put pull ups on. If we r home i sit her on the toilet n she says i dont have to.. Literally 10 mins later she pees in her underwear.. She even pooped in them. Ive read potty books.. Did a chart n i tell her she will get chocolate if she goes on the potty. Im at a loss n losing my mind. Im a teacher n id like to get this done b4 i go back to work n b4 she goes to school in sept.

I just want to add that she says mommy im peeing or im pooping. I try to run her to the toilet but it's too late. Anyway have any advice or have same experience n try somethin new n worked

I was thinkin tom no undies n try using the small potty although dr didnt want me using it.. Ughh

It honestly sounds like she is not ready. Why not back off for awhile and try again in a month or so? Clealy she understands the process but she just doesn't want to do it. So why get frustrated and force the issue?

I would say she still isn't ready. My ds when we first tried he would just pee in his pants and not care. We put it off for a few months and then day 1 he had one accident and and day 2 he had an accident but didn't like the feeling and we have been accident free since. He is 3.5.

Im on the fence with it bc ive asked her if she wants to go back into her diapers n she tells me no im a big girl.. In her mind she thinks shes like 5. Yesterday we went babies r us n it wasnt open so we were waiting outside n there was a little girl about 4 years old sitting there. The girl kept saying im bigger than u... All of a sudden my daughter started pullind down her shorts to show her that she wears underwear n is a big girl. I was a little mortified!!

My parents think i shouldnt stop trying n to just keep goin with it n mayb she will get it. The thing is my dad takes care of her n he said i have to get her trained by sep bc of school n he doesnt want to train her. I agree with him. I have dc2 coming around christmas so ideally id like to have this behind me.

Maybe ill try a few more days n if not wait till sometime in aug. thank u for ur advice

I would say she's not quite ready yet. Try again in a couple weeks and don't use pull ups! Go cold turkey.

My guy was ready but when I switched back and forth (pull ups at night and for naps) he got confused and had accidents. And he would wait to pee/poo until he had a pull up on. Went cold turkey and he did great. He only had two accidents.

It definitely sounds like she is not 100% ready. If your pushing the issues. You could cause major regression. I'd use pull ups for now so she doesn't feel like she is in a diaper & retry again in 1-2 months. I tried several times with my now almost 4 yr old. It stuck at 3 yrs 2 months

Did you read the 3 day potty training book? We just did it this week and my 25 month old DD is pretty much trained (we are still having poop accidents occasionally). My advice to you is to watch her for the non-verbal signals that she has to pee and then rush her to the potty. And figure out what works for your child. In the beginning I would tell DD I was going to get her something to drink while she was on the potty when I knew she had to go and wouldn't, and the second I would walk away she would go - as crazy as it sounds my DD likes her privacy! And we had a plain small potty and a Mickey Mouse ring and DD only wants to pee with Mickey, so maybe get her favorite character ring and underwear. GL.

3 days works.
I didn't use a book.
Buck naked for the first day.
Second day underwear if kid uses potty. Wait for underwear til kid uses potty.
Third day, pants.
The key thing is be consistent and don't go anywhere. Seriously: no where.
Also, no pull ups.

It trained my kid a few months after 2. Poop took a bit longer because he just refused. I stuck with it though and washed a lot of pooped underwear.

I think that kids are ready when they know they have to pee and can communicate.

In the flip side, if you don't send your kid to programs or preschool, then she will train eventually (I don't know many non potty trained teens). It's just a matter of preference as to when.

I had the same problem with my dd. I was so stressed cuz she couldn't go to pre k unless she was trained. A month before school started it just clicked, no accidents day or night! I know my dd was really excited about school and I told her she couldn't go in diapers. Good luck!

I too experienced the same thing with DD - it really sounds like she isbt ready... For us the day after she got her big girl bed and new room decor she said to us no more diapers i want underwear... She had fully trained day and night immediatly and only 1 accident and that was because she was too busy watching TV..
