Seriously? We can not catch a break.
So over the course of the last month, I have gotten all my pre-IVF procedures done: pap smear, blood work, saline sonogram, etc.
I had to get a pap because when I had my annual in October, they skipped it because of the new guidelines.
I have NEVER had an abnormal pap smear in my life and of course this time it comes back abnormal. Apparently there are squamous cells that are a sign of an inflamed cervix and now I need to go in for a colposcopy ...ugh!!!

Uggghh I'm so sorry. Sometimes it feels like everything is against us. But I have to say it's good this was caught now so it can be dealt with.
I hope the colposcopy comes back all clear and you can move forward.

Uhh, sorry to hear that. What are the new guidelines for paps? Just wondering bc I'm up for one in June. Hang in there.

Ugh. .no experience but when I saw your subject line my heart sank that you are dealing with yet another road block! Murphy's Law, right? I hope this setback doesn't take long to get you back on track...
For what it's worth, for my most recent IVF cycle I thought we would NEVER get started!!! It was delayed for .... an insurance issue, a wicked stomach virus, a cyst on my ovary, Hurricane Sandy, and then I had to delay once more because my ER would have been Thanksgiving weekend when they were closed. Soooo .. in all I was delayed like 2 months (which less face it .. in infertility world is like 2 years!) .. but once I did get started, I got pregnant with my I haven't met him yet, but I can already tell you he was worth the wait!

Re: Seriously? We can not catch a break.
Thanks ladies! I was overwhelmed yesterday, but feel better today. Hopefully, this is nothing and it's no big deal. If it is something, I am happy I had to get a pap ahead of schedule. The new schedule had me not needing one until July 2014!
The new schedule says if you have only had negative paps and you are over 30, you only need one every 3 years!

I know it is frustrating. But, you don't want anything jeopardizing your cycles and it is bests to take care of it now. It may be a blessing in disguise. I hope that you can continue quickly after this is all resolved.
As for pap smear schedules, I thought it was recommended that everyone get one annually? News for me. But, I am going to continue annually.
