This kid just CANNOT catch a break!! Need major hugs and maybe some advice....
As some of you may already know, Gavin has been battling a severe diaper rash (bleeding sores type) for weeks and as soon as that started to clear, he got a double ear infection and heinous diarrhea from the antibiotics....thus causing a stinging rash all over again....
FINALLY the diarrhea starts to subside yesterday and I get a call from daycare....
Gavin fell outside and hurt his finger.....it's cracked right across the middle of his nail and bleeding, he's crying, I should take him to the doctor.....
The whole drive to get him I am praying it's not his left hand, PLEASE don't let it be his left hand......he uses his 2 fingers to suck on when he's sleeping....he will be a nightmare if it's one of those fingers...
I get to him....it's the middle finger....LEFT HAND.....@$%^&#$&&%&$!!!!!!
The ped looks at it and says the nail is OK, just keep the band aid on for a week....yeah right....
Needless to say, we barely slept last night....he was completely inconsolable, couldn't sleep...I felt so terrible for him....he will not keep a band aid on at all....and I don't know what to do......
I'm all alone this weekend...DH is working in RI.....I don't know how I'm gonna handle this...... 
I just wish he could be OK for ONE WEEK!!!!!
I know it could be totally worse, I'm just so right now....

I'm trying to figure out a way to help him....but can't!!!!!!
Im gonna try a pacifier maybe, but I think he's just so used to those fingers.....he won't even use the other hand....

What about using those rubber things that secretaries use to prevent paper cuts?? You can buy them at Eckert, CVS etc. For lack of a better description they look like little itty bitty condoms.

poor guy!
maybe try this stuff (clear it with your pediatrician first) I use it all the time on my finger wounds (which I seem to always get) It stings at first, but it totally protects the wound - no bandaid needed... most drug stores have it.

First, hugs for both you and your son. Second, can you keep him sans diaper or in cloth diapers with no pants on for the times you are at home? The fresh air will help with the diaper rash. You might want to try a zinc based diaper rash cream (the white stuff like desatin or but paste to help with the rash), but air is the best medicine. Third, I think they sell liquid band-aids I would look into that to help heal the fingers. This way, you don't actually need to keep a band-aid on the finger. DS is a thumb sucker and is allergic to band-aid adhesive but this stuff works.

His rash is almost gone now too, after a $35 diaper cream......
