diet while breastfeeding
what was your diet like while breastfeeding (especially during that first month or so)?
did you eat what you would have normally eaten?
or did you chose to avoid certain foods?
did you purposely eat certain foods?

Same here. Except with my first son, who turned out to have a milk protein allergy. This was diagnosed at 6 weeks, so from that point on I eliminated all dairy. But I never avoid anything unless I see a reaction in the baby.
ETS: I do avoid caffeine when nursing.

Broccoli and tacos seemed to bother DD in the beginning so I stopped having those. I also gave up dairy at 4-5 months bc she had some signs of an intolerance. She had evening colic in the very beginning and I wish I tried giving up dairy sooner. Oh well :(

I ate pretty normal except for the fact I started eating more oatmeal to help up my supply. I do remember avoiding beans too.

The only thing that I ever noticed would bother DD was Chinese food. So I didn't have any Chinese takeout for a year, but other than that, my diet was exactly what I used to eat.
Come to think of it, I did have to limit my caffeine at first, though. When the baby is tiny and still metabolizes slowly it takes longer for caffeine to exit their system, so if you have a couple of cups of coffee over a day, they get a lot of caffeine stored up and it's harder for them to sleep. That passes when DC are 2 or 3 months old though.
