Baby's head shape
Anyone have any issues with the child's head shape that they had to have treated? We've been noticing some stuff that the ped thinks we may need to have checked out.

My DS had a flat spot. My Ped thought it was an early fusing of the plates which of course threw me into a panic. We saw Dr Rosenn, a neurologist and he said No just a flat spot which is very common since babies are always on their back. We did a wait and see approach. We went back in a few months to see if it got any better and then we would decide on if he needed a helmet. During that time DS started sleeping on his stomach and sitting up on his own. We had such a great change the Dr did not rec a helmet unless we felt he should have a perfectly round head. We didn't care if it was a tiny spot and at our final appt the dr was so happy with the rounding out he said it was almost not even noticable.
Dr Rosenn is great and in Plainview if you need someone in the area. I would def have it checked out.

We also had a son who had placiocephaly. We had the helmet for 10weeks fro cranialtech. I saw follow what you believe. Our pediatrician kept telling us he was fine. I believed they were wrong & wanted a professional in that area to evaluate. We went to cranial tech in NJ & never looked back...so pleased with results

Same as above!
Went to Cranial Tech, very glad I did.
(Also had 3 other opinions from Ped, Neurosurgeon & local Ortho place before deciding on Cranial Tech)

We also had to get a helmet for plagiocephaly. We saw Dr. Rosenn as well and used Bay Orthopedic for the helmet.
DS had the helmet from November to March. It caused him no troubles and his head shape was much improved at the end.
It can't hurt to have a professional look at it and see what they recommend. And I always say, the sooner it's looked at the better!

Baby's head shape
I just came back from seeing a pediatric neurosurgeon with ds who has a flat spot. She said it was not that bad and should correct itself without the helmet.
Went to Dr. Elizabeth Trinidad in Commack.

Not all head issues can be corrected by a helmet. Some are much more serious and require more intervention.

We have more or a point towards the back than an actual flat spot. It seems I get different answers from different drs in the practice. I think we're going to try a specialist.
Anyone have any recommendations for someone on long island, preferably Suffolk county?
