is it normal for a 5.5 month old to not like to be around large crowds?
dd is 5.5 months. she was a colicky baby and because of that we spent a lot of time at home, because she cried a lot due to her belly hurting.
belly is better now so we thought we were beyond this now, but bought her out to a family party today and as soon as she got out of her carseat, cried hysterically until she fell asleep. woke up, and kept crying until we finally left after 3 hours of hell.
as soon as she got home, she was fine.
she ate before we went, was changed, napped well today, so it was none of those things.
im starting to worry that she has a sensory issue being in large crowds of people that is noisy.
does anyone have any experience with this?
we do bring her out now(like to dinner, target, etc.)
but it seems like whenever there is a family occasion, she has a complete meltdown. :(

DS was like that when he was an infant. At holidays and other family functions he would be so agitated and irritable, but as soon as we got home he'd be fine. Sometimes they just get overstimulated I think. DH and I would just bring him into a quiet bedroom and hang out for a bit, away from all the noise and that seemed to help.
Once he became more mobile, he seemed to get over it because he was too busy exploring to be bothered by the crowd/noise.

DD was like this from birth - 6 months. Now she LOVES people.

my 1st was like that. Didn't like people in his face and wouldn't go to strangers. He'd cling to me for dear life.
It lasted a while. Probably about 2 years before he was fine around crowds. I mean he'd be fine after about 10-20 minutes (needed to warm up first).
